The 2026 FG budget has a fiscal deficit of N31.45 trillion, representing 46% of the total budget size. Despite this, N8.05 billion has been earmarked for the construction and renovation of places of worship across the Country;
⛪ 7 Churches — N1.91 billion
🕌 52 Mosques — N6.14 billion

At a time when many communities still lack functional primary healthcare centres, quality schools, clean water, and motorable roads, are these the most pressing priorities for scarce public resources?

Faith is important, but government budgets should primarily address citizens' most critical development needs and improve their quality of life.

With increasing debt and limited fiscal space, every naira borrowed and every naira spent should deliver the greatest possible public value.

1. Import duty: 5%

2. National Automotive Council levy: 15%

3. Value-added tax (VAT): 7.5%

4. Port surcharge: 7%

5. FOB valuation charge: 4%

6. ETL tax: 1%

7. CISS fee: 1%

8. 2% green tax applicable to vehicles with engines under 1.5T displacement

9.Other payable costs include customs value assessment adjustment, destination port handling fees of USD 15 per cubic meter, customs clearance agency fees, document fees and various miscellaneous charges.

LET ME ADD UP THIS FEES AND SUMMARISE IT UP PRACTICALLY FOR YOU WITH AN EXAMPLE

For a refigerated truck valued CIF at $40,880.00/N57,518,160.00, below is what these hoodlums will extort from us;

40,880 USD/ × 42.5% + 15 USD per CBM × 68 CBM + 400 USD, plus a 2,000 USD gratuity for the customs clearance agent.

"Kalu, I want you to understand how these things work. All senior government officials have pet projects in all budgets.

The normal process is that the government official will appoint a ministry to receive the pet contract, then nominate a company to handle the project from the ministry. in reality, its like money laundering, and the government official gets the cash from the budget. This is how elections are funded.

In this case the project was placed by the oga in the budget, that guy was supposed to simply be a figure head, and sign the funds back to oga . What happened is that he actually started doing too much, wanted to act the part, started hosting seminars, and hiring workers.

It seems he got his placeholder role and liked it, and wanted to continue. No one asked him to; he went against the wishes of his benefactor.

Oga told him to stop spending the funds and remit as agreed. He disagreed with the amount that should be remitted.

Now read the statements again with this understanding, and it will make sense.
