Lie with Me (2005) charges me in the most wonderful way and makes me feel #seen. It’s one of my absolute favorite depictions of sexually voracious women falling in love.
&&& his feature debut, Rude (1995), is a nonlinear editing fever dream in the best way possible.
I really love the way he navigates sex, gender, race, and class. And of course he’s Canadian 😌🇨🇦
This is exactly the problem with these people. It’s this demand for a personal exemption while projecting a dismissiveness that is genuinely harmful. You’re not opening a dialogue around criticism. You’re actively insisting that you’re thankful there is no criticism to be made, regardless of what the discourse is actually about. You shove your head in the sand, and anyone who points it out is suddenly “taking it out of context.” Whatever 😭
Rosalind Eleazar and Yana Penrose both look incredible, and their performances are amazing FYI. Proof that putting gorgeous Black women in your movie only improves the cinema 🤙🏽
