As a proud citizen of this nation, it hurts to see our brothers return home in flag-draped coffins while the President's official statement still uses careful, neutral language that avoids naming those responsible for the attacks.

Many of us expected a harsher condemnation and a clearer demand for accountability, especially after the government has already expressed anger through the UN.

We also wonder whether joining the BoP truly advances the peace we all hope for, or if it risks placing our soldiers in even greater danger without stronger protections.

You have spoken proudly of building Indonesia into a strong, respected nation on the world stage. Unfortunately, many of us do not see it that way.

A strong and respected nation does not hide behind well-worded remarks when its compatriots have been brutally murdered.

A free and active nation does not put aside its dignity and values in exchange for alliances on the world stage.

Rather, it is a nation that stays true to its ideals and principles.

Maybe, if you read this—probably not—you can understand how we have felt these past few days.
