There comes a moment—not with a bang, but with a quiet, gut-level click—when you realize you are not the person you used to be. The old you would have stayed. The old you would have explained yourself for the tenth time. The old you would have swallowed the disrespect, called it keeping the peace, and carried the weight of someone else's bad behavior like it was your job to hold it.
That person is gone.
Not buried. Not erased. Just... outgrown. Like a coat that never fit right but you wore it for years because you thought you had to.
And here is what happens when you stop being the old you: you start seeing things clearly. You see who pours into you and who only takes. You see who celebrates your light and who tries to blow it out because theirs went dark a long time ago.
Those people? The ones who do bad things to you. The ones who lie about you, use you, ghost you, gaslight you, or treat you like you're disposable? They are not getting away with anything.
You don't have to lift a finger. You don't have to curse them. You don't have to plot, plan, post, or expose. The universe has a longer memory than any human. And it doesn't forget.

Show your worth by walking away. Show your worth by staying quiet when you could destroy them. Show your worth by being kind to yourself in a world that profits from you hating yourself.
Be kind to yourself.
That means not checking their social media. That means not rehearsing arguments in the shower. That means not asking "why me" for the hundredth time. That means closing that door and trusting that whatever is behind it was never yours to carry.
When you are kind to yourself, you stop inviting people who aren't.

Removing color in socialist and communist countries is not an accident. These regimes have deliberately created drab, gray, and highly uniform environments. The pattern is clear across the Soviet Union, the Eastern Bloc, Maoist China, North Korea, and similar systems.
Marxist-Leninist and related doctrines treated personal color, fashion, and individual expression as suspicious. In systems that demand total loyalty to the leader, anything that fosters an independent spirit or private joy becomes a threat. Uniformity is safer for those in power.
A colorless world also drains mood and energy. Environmental psychology research consistently links colorful surroundings with greater engagement, alertness, and positive feelings, while persistent gray or muted settings are tied to monotony, lower motivation, and even depressive effects.
Systematically stripping color produces environments that feel lifeless, uninspiring, and harder to inhabit with joy or attention. That is exactly the atmosphere communist and socialist leaders preferred.

Summer 1990 after the fall of The Wall, on the train crossing from East Berlin to West Berlin. Surreal how the East side EVERYTHING was dark gray w/o life & the invisible line of demarcation when crossing into the West’s technicolor landscape, Mercedes building, zoo mural etc.
Berlin was divided into two sides. The communist east side and the capitalist west side.
East Berlin built a wall to keep their citizens from escaping the communist east side into the free capitalist west side.
You should know that thousands died trying to escape the communist east side. I don’t remember ever hearing about anyone who died trying to get to the communist east side.
Communism does not arrive all at once. It starts with socialism. That is the first step.
East Berlin lived that step. West Berlin did not.
One city. One people. Split by a wall. On the socialist side: shortages, secret police, and citizens shot for trying to leave. On the free side: lights, jobs, food, and people who could speak without asking permission. The difference was not culture. It was the system.

A bank laundered money for terrorists and drug cartels and paid a fine. A restaurant gave me a job and sent me home with dinner.
Guess which one I think about more.
After I blew the whistle at @HSBC, every door in my industry closed. Not slowly. All at once. I had a degree, a record of being right, and no one who would return a call. I was sleeping on a camping cot in a studio apartment and I needed to eat.
@PFChangs hired me.
