VFB makes exploring Drosophila neuroanatomy easy: Find brain regions, neurons, transgenes, phenotypes, papers in a few simple clicks. Join us on GitHub to help
We will be at NeuroFly-2022 with a talk about all the things you can do on VFB - "Virtual Fly Brain - A hub for Drosophila Melanogaster Neural Anatomy, Imaging Data & Connectomics" (T6) and a poster on making your data FAIR and sharable with VFB (P158).

Applications are now open for Structure and Function of the Insect Central Complex, the sixth in a series of Janelia-hosted meetings on this highly conserved insect brain region. 🧠
📅 Application deadline: July 7

Thank you @BBSRC for funding our work on
#decision-making in #Drosophila
*PDRA and tech posts coming soon*.
Pls, RT and reach out if you might know of someone interested.
I will be attending #FENS (Paris) and #ICN (Lisbon) in July. Pls, get in touch if you want to chat.
@TarazLee Big fan of Pycharm. Easy to set up (venv etc). Easy navigation. Great debugger. Useful code hints. Easy to run your iPython repl in side it if that's your thing.
First Pool Lab pre-print: https://t.co/e3vDzRXPrr. We resolve a major pain with 3’ single-cell RNA-sequencing (10x Genomics etc.) – missing gene expression data from thousands of genes. This stems from suboptimal reference transcriptomes and can easily be recovered. T below: 1/12
Come join us @MRC_LMB, Cambridge, the birthplace of #connectomics! New group leader position (TT/T) with long-term core funding for staff, students and equipment. Interest in development/application of synaptic resolution imaging (hardware/software) encouraged. Pls RT (or DM)!
What are the guidelines for describing new cell types?
Surprisingly, there were not any general guidelines until last week, when our pre-print got out:

A thread 🧶
As well as getting your data on VFB, you will get FAIR-compliant annotation and a permanent ID/URL that you can use to reference your data in papers and that can be used by others to view and access the data. Please DM if you are interested.
Would you like to get your image data onto VFB? We are trialing a new data upload system in collaboration with @wellcometrust#fairware. We're looking for beta-testers and are especially interested in novel light-level data, e.g. new split combos. /1
Excited to share our latest work - we use pan-neuronal 2 photon imaging to dissect how the #brain integrates multiple internal states to guide #food#choice! Fantastic work by @dahaniel who took on this challenging project almost solo! #drosophila https://t.co/kQML55lVh3 1/21
A number of our users have custom installations of OLS, OxO and Zooma. @NicoMatentzoglu has created a page where you can you tell us about your custom EBI Ontology Tools installation and your use case: https://t.co/oSTkndWlLW
Thank you for the highlight! Also please check out the fantastic @elife Insight article by @stanley_heinze, which exquisitely contextualizes our work, led by first and corresponding author Ben Hardcastle. https://t.co/pQ0XOgrBQg
It's not too late to join our 'Exploring the connectome' workshop @neurofly2020 with @uni_matrix@martamcosta2@robbiecourt1977@gsxej. We still have room for a few more. Sign up here: https://t.co/OTSBp47LSx. You'll need to be registered for https://t.co/RbvU61GIUq to attend.
Hello VFB users - we would like to ask a favour. It would be really helpful to us if you could fill out our user survey: https://t.co/gLswskYVTR. It won't take long. It will be really helpful to us and you get to guide our future development and suggest new features.
We still have a few slots left for our 'Exploring the connectome' workshop at Neurofly https://t.co/OTSBp47LSx. You'll need to be registered for https://t.co/k6aRQictQ7 to attend. Early Bird registration closes on April 12th.
