๐ Introducing $Visdeurbel
De Visdeurbel (the Fish Doorbell) is a Dutch project that places a literal doorbell for fish at the Weerdsluis lock in the canals of Utrecht. Every spring, thousands of fish swim through the Oudegracht searching for a place upstream to lay their eggs, but the lock is often closed and blocks them.
People around the world tune into the underwater livestream, and whenever they spot a fish, they press the doorbell. This alerts the lock keeper, who opens the gate and lets the fish through.
It's racked up over 250,000 presses a year and even got a feature on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
We've been in contact with Cyd Stumpel (@cydstumpel), the developer maintaining the project, who confirmed she's open to anything that supports the Visdeurbel in a positive way. You can read her own beautifully written piece about the project here: https://t.co/cUag47d4AN
To run this token the right way, we've also acquired @visdeurbel on X as our official home for the community.
100% of the creator fees from the token are redirected to Cyd's GitHub page, the most transparent way to support the work behind the project.
