Stop romanticising Gen Z over one protest

@dudeitsokay Credit him for conducting the retest properly and bringing reforms , but accountability for a massive failure under his ministry is not punishment to his family. using a family photo to frame resignation like personal suffering is just emotional propaganda.

Malayalis love saying Kerala is better than the rest of India. And on many social indicators, we are.

But watch us drive, park, litter or behave in public spaces. Our civic sense often doesn’t match our education.

Better than others is not the same as being good.

Protecting kids from addictive algorithms makes sense. But romanticizing physical books like they’re automatically superior doesn’t. If older means better, why stop at books? Lets go back to palm-leaf scripts or hieroglyphics. We cant keep kids away from social media and expect them to suddenly use it wisely. Regulate the harms. Teach digital literacy. Blanket bans are just lazy shortcuts.

That’s your interpretation. Mine is different. A movement can start with a genuine grievance and later expand into broader politics. That doesn’t mean the expansion is inevitable or beneficial. My concern is that the demand for exam reform gets overshadowed once the focus shifts from NEET to general anti government politics.

Resignation may deliver a political headline. But what specific reforms will prevent the next paper leak? That is the discussion we should be having.

The NEET leak was real. Students were cheated, and every insider or official responsible must be punished. But the exam was cancelled, arrests followed and a re-examination was held.

Protest is legitimate. But prolonged disruption and ever expanding political demands now look increasingly like politics replacing the original student grievance.

One minister’s resignation may satisfy a slogan. It will not prevent the next leak, reform the NTA or secure future exams.

Nor should every tragic suicide be reduced to a single cause. Exam uncertainty matters, but so do family pressure, coaching culture, fear of failure and the belief that only doctors or engineers count as successful.

Punish the guilty. Fix the system. Support students.

But stop turning their pain into political fuel and stop teaching children that one exam decides their worth.

@tylercowen Could you please clarify something regarding the EV India 13th cohort?
In the announcement (https://t.co/2OtWVX7FYn), every entry explicitly says “received a grant to…” except Habel Anwar.
Was he awarded an actual financial grant, and is he affiliated with GMU?
