[Long Post]
Initial thoughts on Ruben Amorim:
Amorim is no doubt an excellent tactician (prodigious even) and his exploits at Sporting Lisbon proves his tactical acumen. Sporting were in doldrums when he arrived (familiar yeah?) and within 4 years he changed their entire trajectory, won multiple leagues, trophies and made them a major European force. I have no doubts that he will be a success at any European club.
But Manchester United are not just any European club. It's different, it's unique. No other manager in the world has to deal with media scrutiny as much as Utd's. Everything, from their suits, to their grocery gets attention. The media will actively search for their vulnerabilities and exploit them mercilessly. Newspapers, radio shows, talkshows, podcasts stay in business by mentioning Utd over and over again. Pundits stay relevant by consistently criticizing Manchester United.
Then comes the players. We have a group of players who have shown on multiple occasions that they can't stick to a plan for 90 minutes. There is a lack of discipline & cohesion. They can't stick to the game structure or do their own thing. Furthermore senior players can't be relied upon to carry out instructions. They themselves do not commit to the instructions properly.

Lastly the fans. The matchgoing fans are brilliant and very tolerant but our online fanbase is definitely one of the worst. They all have different agendas. Manager FCs, Player FCs, YouTubers, we have all of them. Based on their agenda, they will exert pressure the moment we lose a couple of games. It is used to feed the media and it turns into a vicious cycle of hate and negativity.
Amorim's job will depend on how he manages these intangibles. The media will always be hostile towards Utd and our managers but I hope he is charismatic and savvy enough to handle them effectively. He also shouldn't hesitate to ban journalists for spreading rank untruths.
The players, I hope he is wise enough to not fall into the trap most post-Fergie managers have fallen into. He shouldn't change his style or structure as he has a different set of players here. He shouldn't cater to their whims and fancies. Play his style, his brand of football. He should remember this is what made him successful in the first place. He should not hesitate to part ways with players who do not align with his philosophy or fully commit to it. He should demand assurances from the board that he will be allowed to make such changes without repercussions.
Lastly the fans. Unfortunately results are the only way to keep them content. They will always scream and shout but it will not be very significant. One thing he can and should do is ban certain channels from the club. These channels consistently engage in spreading abuses and misinformation about players and coaches, yet they continue to receive full access and press passes. He ought to request that the club withdraw their access and implement stricter scrutiny.
I dearly hope Amorim is a spectacular success here. He marks the beginning of a new era of leadership. I hope he is given all the tools to succeed. Hopefully we are lifting 21st and 4th under Amorim. Let's back him unconditionally and welcome a new era of success ♥️
That penalty is a disgrace
I hate United, but we need to put rivalry aside and fight this incompetent organization.
1. It's a coming together
2. VAR should only interfere when the ref has done an obvious mistake. This is highly subjective.
