ಇಂದು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಿಧಾನ ಪರಿಷತ್ ಸದಸ್ಯನಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ಈ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ, ನನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಭಾವುಕತೆಯಿಂದ ಸ್ಮರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

ನನ್ನ ಜೀವನದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡಿದವರು, ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸಿದವರು, ಸೇವೆಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿದವರು ನನ್ನ ತಾಯಿ.

ಇಂದು ಅವರು ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಅವರ ಆಶೀರ್ವಾದ, ತ್ಯಾಗ ಮತ್ತು ಆದರ್ಶಗಳು ಸದಾ ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗಿವೆ.

ನಾನು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಹುದ್ದೆಯಿಂದ ಕೆಳಗಿಳಿದು ಹನ್ನೆರೆಡು ದಿನಗಳು ಕಳೆದವು, ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಪ್ರೀತಿ - ಅಭಿಮಾನದೊಂದಿಗೆ ದೂರದ ಊರುಗಳಿಂದ ಬಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಭೇಟಿಯಾಗುವ ಜನರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ದಿನ ಹೋದಂತೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದೆ. ನನ್ನ ಬದುಕಿನ ಸಾರ್ಥಕ ಕ್ಷಣಗಳಿವು.

ನಿಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಕಂಡು ಎದೆ ಭಾರವಾಗಿದೆ.

ನನ್ನ ಅತ್ಯಾಪ್ತ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತ, ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ನಾಯಕರು ಆದ ಸೂರಜ್ ಹೆಗ್ಡೆ ಅವರ ಅಕಾಲಿಕ ನಿಧನದ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಕೇಳಿ ತೀವ್ರ ಆಘಾತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂದು ನಾನು ಒಬ್ಬ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯುಳ್ಳ ನಾಯಕನನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ವೈಯಕ್ತಿಕವಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ, ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

ಮಾಜಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳಾದ ದಿವಂಗತ ಡಿ. ದೇವರಾಜ ಅರಸು ಅವರ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗರಾದ ಸೂರಜ್, ಯುವ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ದಿನಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಪಕ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸಕ್ರಿಯವಾಗಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ನನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತ ಇಂದು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನ ಅಗಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇವರ ದಕ್ಷ ಕಾರ್ಯವೈಖರಿಯನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಪಕ್ಷವು ಇವರನ್ನು ಗ್ಯಾರಂಟಿ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಎಐಸಿಸಿ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಯಾಗಿಯೂ ಅವರು ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ನಿಭಾಯಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

ಬಾಲ್ಯ, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಜೀವನ, ಪಕ್ಷ ಸಂಘಟನೆ, ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಜೀವನದುದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ನನ್ನ ನೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತನ ಅಗಲಿಕೆ ತುಂಬಲಾರದ ನಷ್ಟ ತಂದಿದೆ. ಭಗವಂತನು ಮೃತರ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಿರಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಿ, ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬಸ್ಥರಿಗೆ ಈ ತೀವ್ರ ದುಃಖವನ್ನು ಭರಿಸುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಲಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

Deeply saddened by the untimely passing of my friend, Shri M.N. Suraj Hegde. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

From the time I inducted him into the Youth Congress in the early 2000s, Suraj worked with unwavering dedication and tireless commitment for the Congress Party. Over the years, he held several important positions at both the state and national levels, earning the respect and affection of colleagues across the political spectrum.

Though he was the grandson of the legendary D. Devaraj Urs, he never had an easy path in either life or politics. He faced challenges with determination, worked his way up through sheer perseverance, and carved out his own identity through hard work and sincerity.

Suraj built lasting friendships and strong relationships across the country. He was widely admired not only for his political work but also for his warmth, humility, and decency as a human being. Just as greater opportunities and recognition seemed to be coming his way, fate has cruelly cut short a promising journey.

Rest in peace, Suraj. You will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives you touched.

ಇಂದು ಲೋಕಭವನಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಳಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಪಾಲರ ಅನುಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ವಿಶೇಷ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳಿಗೆ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ನನ್ನ ರಾಜೀನಾಮೆ ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಬೆಳೆದ ನಾನು ಮುಂದೊಂದು ದಿನ ಈ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಶಾಸಕ, ಮಂತ್ರಿ, ವಿರೋಧ ಪಕ್ಷದ ನಾಯಕ, ಎರಡೆರಡು ಬಾರಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಯಾಗುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂಬ ಕನಸನ್ನು ಸಹ ಕಂಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಇಂತದ್ದೊಂದು ದುಬಾರಿಯಾದ ಕನಸು ನನಸಾಗಿರುವುದು ಬಾಬಾ ಸಾಹೇಬ್ ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ಅವರ ಸಂವಿಧಾನದಿಂದ.

ಬುದ್ಧ, ಬಸವ, ಬಾಬಾ ಸಾಹೇಬರು, ಮಹಾತ್ಮ ಗಾಂಧಿಯವರೇ ನನ್ನ ಆದರ್ಶ. ನನ್ನ ನಲವತ್ತೆಂಟು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಡಿನ ಅವಕಾಶ ವಂಚಿತ, ಶೋಷಿತ, ಬಡ ಜನರ ಪರವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕವಾಗಿ ದುಡಿದ ಸಂತೃಪ್ತಿಯಿದೆ.

ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಶಾಸಕಾಂಗ ಪಕ್ಷದ ನಾಯಕನಾಗಿ ಆರಿಸಿ, ಈ ವರೆಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿ ಜನಸೇವೆಗೆ ಅವಕಾಶ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಶಾಸಕರಿಗೆ, ನನ್ನ ಹೆಗಲಿಗೆ ಹೆಗಲಾಗಿ ದುಡಿದ ಸಂಪುಟ ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ, ಅವಕಾಶ ನೀಡಿದ ಪಕ್ಷದ ವರಿಷ್ಠರಾದ ಸೋನಿಯಾ ಗಾಂಧಿ, ರಾಹುಲ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ, ಎಐಸಿಸಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನ ಖರ್ಗೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ನನ್ನ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಬದುಕಿನುದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ತುಂಬಿದ, ಅಭಿಮಾನಿಸಿದ, ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ತನಕ ಕೈಹಿಡಿದು ನಡೆಸಿದ ಹೃದಯವಂತ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರಿಗೆ ನಾನು ಚಿರಋಣಿ.

ಸಂವಿಧಾನವೇ ನನಗೆ ಧರ್ಮ, ಜನರೇ ನನ್ನ ಪಾಲಿನ ದೇವರು. ನನ್ನ ರಾಜೀನಾಮೆ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಹುದ್ದೆಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರವೇ ಸೀಮಿತ, ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಕ್ಕಲ್ಲ.

ನನ್ನ ಜೀವದ ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರು ಇರುವ ವರೆಗೂ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ನ್ಯಾಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂವಿಧಾನ ವಿರೋಧಿ ಕೋಮುವಾದಿ ಶಕ್ತಿಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಹೋರಾಟ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.

ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತಗಳ ಮೀರಿದ ಧೀಮಂತ ನಾಯಕ, ಶೋಷಿತರ ಮತ್ತು ಬಡವರ ಧ್ವನಿಯಾಗಿ ಸದಾ ಮಿಡಿಯುವ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಶ್ರೀ @siddaramaiah ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರವಾಗಲಿ, ಕುರ್ಚಿಯಾಗಲಿ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ದೊಡ್ಡದಲ್ಲ. ಹೈಕಮಾಂಡ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಪಕ್ಷದ ತೀರ್ಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಬದ್ಧರಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ರಾಜೀನಾಮೆ ನೀಡಿರುವುದು, ಅವರು ಅಧಿಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಅಂಟಿಕೊಂಡ ನಾಯಕನಲ್ಲ, ಬದಲಿಗೆ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಶಿಸ್ತು ಮತ್ತು ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತಕ್ಕೆ ತಲೆಬಾಗುವ ಧೀಮಂತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದವರು ಎಂಬುದು ಸಾಬೀತುಪಡಿಸಿದೆ.

ಸ್ವತಃ ಬಡತನ ಮತ್ತು ಅನ್ನದ ಬೆಲೆಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರದಿಂದ ಅರಿತವರಾಗಿ, 'ಹಸಿವು ಮುಕ್ತ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ'ದ ದೃಢ ಧ್ಯೇಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಾದ್ಯಂತ ಮಾದರಿಯಾದ 'ಅನ್ನಭಾಗ್ಯ' ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಜನರ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ತಣಿಸಿ 'ಅನ್ನರಾಮಯ್ಯ' ಎಂದೇ ಜನರ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಯಾದವರು ಅವರು. ಹಿಂದೆ ನಾನು ಆಹಾರ ಮತ್ತು ನಾಗರಿಕ ಸರಬರಾಜು ಸಚಿವನಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ, ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಟ್ಟು ಈ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಜಾರಿಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅವರು ನನಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು.

ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಕಟ್ಟಕಡೆಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗೂ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸೇವೆಗಳು ಸಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ದೊರೆಯಬೇಕೆಂಬ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ, ದೇಶದಲ್ಲೇ ಪ್ರಪ್ರಥಮ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ತಂದ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ '108 ಕೇಂದ್ರೀಕೃತ ಕಮಾಂಡ್ ಆಂಡ್ ಕಂಟ್ರೋಲ್ ಸೆಂಟರ್' ಅನ್ನು ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗಷ್ಟೇ ಅವರು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅದುವೇ ಅವರು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ ಕೊನೆಯ ಅಧಿಕೃತ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿತ್ತು ಎಂಬುದು ಈಗ ಭಾವನಾತ್ಮಕವಾಗಿ ಕಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಕೊನೆಯ ಕ್ಷಣದವರೆಗೂ ಜನಸಾಮಾನ್ಯರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮಿಡಿದ ಅವರ ಆಡಳಿತ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಸ್ಮರಣೀಯ.

ಕೋಮುವಾದಿಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಎಂದೂ ರಾಜಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳದ ಅವರ ಗಟ್ಟಿ ನಿಲುವುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಜನಾನುರಾಗಿಯಾಗಿ 'ಪಂಚ ಗ್ಯಾರಂಟಿ' ಯೋಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ಕಾರ್ಯವೈಖರಿ, ಅವರ 'ನುಡಿದಂತೆ ನಡೆಯುವ' ಗುಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಡಿದ ಕೈಗನ್ನಡಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ವಿರೋಧಪಕ್ಷಗಳು ರಾಜಕೀಯ ದುರುದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಾಲದ ಸುಳಿಗೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಆರೋಪಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ಕೇವಲ ಸತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ದೂರವಾದ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಗಿಮಿಕ್ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಹೊರತು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ವಾಸ್ತವವಿಲ್ಲ. ತಮ್ಮ ಸುದೀರ್ಘ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನೈಜ ಸಮಾಜವಾದಿಯಾಗಿ ಬದುಕಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದ ಅವರ ನಡೆ ನಮಗೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸದಾ ಮಾದರಿ.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಂತಿ, ಸೌಹಾರ್ದತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ನ್ಯಾಯದ ಆಡಳಿತ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಮಾನ್ಯ ಸಿದ್ದರಾಮಯ್ಯ ಅವರು ರಾಜೀನಾಮೆಯ ನಂತರವೂ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ರಾಜಕಾರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದು ನನ್ನ ಆಶಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಜನನಾಯಕರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲು ನನಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಅವಕಾಶ ನನ್ನ ಸೌಭಾಗ್ಯ. ಆ ಒಡನಾಟ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೃದಯಪೂರ್ವಕ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾವು ಸದಾ ನಿಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಸರ್, ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಜನರಿಗಾಗಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸೇವೆ ಹೀಗೇ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯಲಿ.

ನನ್ನ ಊರು ಕುಶಾಲನಗರದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಭಾವನಾತ್ಮಕ ಸಂಬಂಧವಿದೆ. ಇಂದು ಇದೇ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಬಾಲಕ ಅನ್ವಿಕ್ ಅಕಾಲಿಕವಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಅಗಲಿರುವುದು ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ತೀವ್ರ ನೋವುಂಟು ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಆ ಮಗುವಿನ ಪೋಷಕರು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡ ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ಇಡೀ ನಾಡೇ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಪಡುವಂತದ್ದು.

ಕೇವಲ 4 ವರ್ಷದ ಅನ್ವಿಕ್ ರಸ್ತೆ ಅಪಘಾತದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟರೂ, ಅವನ ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ದಾನ ಮಾಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಅವನ ಪೋಷಕರಾದ ರಜಿತ್ ಮತ್ತು ರಮ್ಯಾ ದಂಪತಿಗಳು ಮಹತ್ತರವಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಪುತ್ರ ಶೋಕ ಹೆತ್ತವರಿಗೆ ಕೊನೆ ಕ್ಷಣದವರೆಗೂ ಇನ್ನಿಲ್ಲದಂತೆ ಕಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ, ತಮ್ಮ ಕರುಳ ಕುಡಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಅತೀವ ನೋವಿನಲ್ಲೂ, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬರ ಬಾಳಿಗೆ ಬೆಳಕಾಗಲು ಮುಂದಾದ ಅವರ ಈ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾನವೀಯತೆ ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಮಾದರಿ.

ತನ್ನ ಸಾವಿನ ನಂತರವೂ ಹಲವರಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವಂತವಾಗಿರುವ ಅನ್ವಿಕ್‌ನ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಿರಶಾಂತಿ ಸಿಗಲಿ. ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಕುಟುಂಬಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ದುಃಖವನ್ನು ಭರಿಸುವ ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಆ ಭಗವಂತ ನೀಡಲಿ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

Our Government’s flagship #GruhaArogya initiative is strengthening preventive healthcare across Karnataka with a clear focus on early detection and timely management of non-communicable diseases.

Achievements from August 2025 to March 2026:
Home visits and awareness:
Over 60.38 lakh households covered and 1.33 crore citizens reached through sustained awareness efforts.
Hypertension and diabetes:
1.04 crore individuals screened for hypertension and 1.00 crore for diabetes, with over 44 lakh patients currently under treatment.

Cancer screening:
•Oral cancer: 76.38 lakh screened and 5,375 under treatment
•Breast cancer: 34.77 lakh women screened and 4,542 under treatment
•Cervical cancer: 28.19 lakh women screened and 2,042 under treatment

Liver and kidney health:
53.81 lakh individuals screened for fatty liver and 53.53 lakh for kidney conditions. Over 20,000 beneficiaries are receiving specialist care.

Mental health and anaemia:
51.55 lakh individuals screened for mental health and over 20 lakh for anaemia with necessary medical support provided.

These outcomes reflect the Government’s commitment to shifting from reactive care to proactive public health and ensuring accessible, comprehensive care for every citizen.

A Bill meant to empower women is being used to redraw constituencies, tilt power, and weaken the South—yet the #MainstreamMedia looks away.

Attended Mangalore PhysioCon 2026 at Mangaluru and spoke to a wonderful gathering of experts, teachers and international delegates from Nepal and the Philippines along with members of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists and other dignitaries. The conference continues to bring people together to share ideas and learn from each other.

Addressed how important physiotherapy and rehabilitation have become today with the rise in non communicable diseases and increasing work related stress. Also touched on the role of post operative care and how this field is growing beyond hospitals into many new settings with more young professionals and women joining the workforce.

The South canara Physiotherapy Teachers’ Association (SCPTA) has been hosting this conference for over a decade and has created a strong space for learning and collaboration. Such efforts help improve training, expand access to quality care and create better opportunities for those in the profession.

Along with Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition @RahulGandhi ji , I was part of a large public meeting in Puducherry today. The strong turnout reflected a clear aspiration for change.

The election manifesto outlined key commitments including free bus travel for women, ₹2,000 monthly assistance for unemployed youth, 30,000 new jobs, health insurance up to ₹20 lakh per family and local body elections within six months.

The Congress party has a proven record of delivering on its assurances. We are committed to extending Karnataka’s successful guarantee model to Puducherry and ensuring responsive, people centric governance.

Concerns over administrative overreach, weakening of local leadership and governance challenges were highlighted. The need to strengthen accountability and safeguard public interest was emphasized.

The demand for full statehood remains unmet and the Congress party reiterates its commitment to securing it upon assuming office.

People were urged to support a transparent, accountable and development focused administration with a clear mandate.
