MAGISTRATE WHO LET TAXI BOSSES WALK FREE HAS RETIRED
Chief Magistrate Tuletu Tonjeni, who presided over the case involving Joe Ferrari Sibanyoni and his co-accused on 15 and 18 May 2026 at the Kwaggafontein Mkobola Magistrate’s Court, and subsequently struck the matter off the roll due to the absence of Prosecutor Mkhuseli Ntaba, has reportedly retired from her position as of Friday, 29 May 2026.
It is reported that she hosted a farewell party on Friday at Three Star Wildlife Events and Family Resort, situated between Mbombela and White River.

A multimillion-rand church empire has become the focus of a renewed succession dispute within the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC), as tensions rise over questions of family lineage in the Modise family.
Jacqueline Modise, the daughter of founder Frederick Modise, has alleged that Glayton Modise was not his biological son, raising challenges to the inheritance claims of Michael Sandlana, Tshepiso Modise, and Leonard Modise. She is also urging that DNA testing be conducted to help settle the ongoing dispute over the church founder’s estate.
Businessman Suliman Carrim is expected to request that his upcoming appearance before the Madlanga Commission be postponed.
His testimony has previously been delayed due to health-related issues, while the commission continues its inquiry into allegations of corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system.
PRIVATE JET, LONDON SHOPPING TRIP & MUNICIPAL CONTRACTS?
Investigations by News24 and the Sunday Times allege that businessman Ze Nxumalo funded a R3.5 million private jet charter used by former Ekurhuleni city manager Imogen Mashazi and her friends for a three-day shopping trip to London in 2022.
The reports further claim the flight was paid for through companies linked to municipal contractors, raising serious questions about possible conflicts of interest and the relationship between business and government officials.
The family of 54-year-old Pat Mthembu, who lost his life in a tractor-related incident on a farm yesterday, has expressed doubts about the circumstances surrounding his death and suspects possible foul play.
According to relatives, Mthembu was called from his home to assist with a tractor, despite not being qualified as a mechanic. The family also finds it concerning that his cellphone was allegedly used to contact family members and send photographs after he had already died.
After examining images from the scene, relatives questioned several aspects of the incident, including the position of the tractor, blood found on his boots, and other details they believe warrant a thorough investigation.
The family is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward and contact Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA).
