Traces of Texas reader Steve Benson was so kind as to send in this nice image of Beaumont's Pearl Street. You car guys have a better gauge than I do, but it looks to be about 1940. In any case, an ordinary moment, frozen in time and now a super photo.
Thank you, Steve. Makes me think I want to step back into this scene for a few minutes, experience the sights and sounds, then step back into my "real" life.

Fall on the Franklin Lake in the Big Thicket National Preserve in Silsbee, Texas. The lake sits in the bottomlands near the Neches River, offering a serene setting. A natural, unpaved boat launch allows easy access for kayaks, canoes, and small boats.

Santa rides into Beaumont on a Beaumont Fire Dept. firetruck, 1924. 100 years ago. This photo was taken in front of city hall. It looks like the truck is gearing up for a Christmas parade.
