Today in Nairobi I met Ms. Inger Andersen, the Executive Director of @UNEP. We shared the vision that environment has nexus with all UN’s three pillars, and environmental multilateralism needs to be strengthened to tackle with the planetary crises collectively. We also discussed the central role of UNEP in fostering international cooperation on environmental issues, and the importance of developing a global plastic treaty to address the crisis of pollution and waste collectively.
Pleased to meet with the Director-General of UNON Nairobi. Nairobi is one of the UN's most vital hubs, driving real impact across Africa. Discussions today reinforced why reform must go hand in hand with strengthening our capacity to deliver for people on the ground.
