Peaceful protest is not a battlefield. In #Greece, it is being treated as one.
Our new @amnesty report exposes a pattern of excessive force, arbitrary detention and impunity, with protesters and journalists hit by stun grenades, beaten, and criminalized simply for exercising their rights.
This is not crowd control. It is punitive policing designed to silence dissent. When people must risk injury to protest, the right to peaceful assembly is already under attack.
Greek authorities must act now: end abusive policing, ensure accountability, and protect the right to protest.

This is a very important report. Crucially it must be a wake up call. Enough with too many state party’s selectivity, double standards, cowardice. The US sanctions must be resolutely, publicly and confidently opposed and blocked through blocking orders.
✊🏾Two powerful acts of resistance against authoritarian practices and predatory power.
⚖️In #France, a court overturned a politically motivated visa denial against @alhaq_org's General Director, and Palestinian human rights leader, Shawan Jabarin, a clear pushback against attempts to silence human rights defenders.
🛑In Europe, #Spain is calling for EU action to block US sanctions against the @IntlCrimCourt, sanctions that undermine international justice and threaten those fighting for accountability and the right to justice for the Palestinian people. The EU has the tools to act and must use them. @amnesty has long urged the implementation of the EU Blocking Statute. Spain’s demand is not the end point, it is the beginning.
Resistance is built step by step. There is no time to give up. This is the time to resist #HumanityMustWin
The 77th ILC session is continuing its work on Draft Articles on Immunity of State Officials.
Concerns remain on draft article 10, and the notification obligation it proposes. @amnesty urges the Commission to consider its observations - summarised here:

Israel continues to destroy civilian infrastructure as shown in this video, which captures the Israeli army destroying solar panels in southern Lebanon.
Amnesty International has previously documented extensive destruction by the Israeli military along Lebanon’s border before and after the November 2024 ceasefire. We called for reparations and the investigation into this for war crimes. So far, neither has appeared.
Since the more recent 2026 “ceasefire”, civilians in southern Lebanon’s border villages, many of whom are displaced, are continuing to witness their homes, land and infrastructure destroyed.
Israel must stop the unlawful destruction of civilian property across southern Lebanon.
An Israeli court has again rubber-stamped injustice, extending Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya’s detention under the Unlawful Combatant Law, without a single charge .
Dr. Abu Safiya remains imprisoned in Negev Prison, held in harsh conditions, denied essential medication and adequate medical care, despite his deteriorating health. This is cruel, unlawful, and punitive detention.
A doctor should never be jailed for who he is or the people he serves. Arbitrary detention of Palestinian health workers is a grave crime that must end now.
We demand the immediate and unconditional release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, and of all arbitrarily detained Palestinian health workers. Silence is complicity, and we will not stop until they are free.
Amnesty International warned that the global human rights system is nearing a breaking point and cited double standards by powerful states and weakened multilateral institutions
La mancata sospensione dell’Accordo di associazione tra Unione europea e Israele è un altro capitolo vergognoso della storia dell’Ue. Continuiamo a fare pressione su Italia e Germania https://t.co/erYb5mlOZW
2 TUE).
We are confronting the most challenging moment of our age. Humanity is under attack from transnational anti-rights movements and predatory governments determined to assert their dominance through unlawful wars and brazen economic blackmail.
What marks this moment as fundamentally different is that we’re no longer documenting erosion around the system’s edges. This is a direct assault on the foundations of human rights and the international rules-based order by the most powerful actors for the purpose of control, impunity and profit.
For the sake of humanity, the time to make history is now. #HumanityMustWin

🧵Is Britain’s intervention in Iran war legal?
- @MiddleEastEye asked five leading international law scholars, who disagreed on some aspects of the UK’s right to ‘collective self-defence.’
Here’s what they said ⤵️

Israel’s proposed death penalty bills would deepen apartheid against Palestinians and violate international law.
The Knesset is advancing measures that expand the death penalty in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory, legislation designed to be used selectively against Palestinians, enabling serious breaches of human rights and humanitarian law.
At @Amnesty International, we urge Israel to immediately drop these discriminatory bills and move toward full abolition of the death penalty.
