🚨 Major Wheat Tender Alert
Saudi Arabia has just stepped into the market with a significant purchase.
🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia bought 661,000 metric tons of hard milling wheat for September–October 2026 shipment at an average CIF price of $269.32/ton.
The wheat is expected to be sourced primarily from:
🇪🇺 European Union
🇺🇸 United States
🇨🇦 Canada
🇦🇺 Australia
🇦🇷 Argentina
Why it matters:
🌾 A large importer securing over 660,000 tons signals steady global demand.
📈 It could provide support to international wheat prices, especially for high-protein milling wheat.
🚢 Export competition among major wheat suppliers is likely to intensify ahead of the new marketing season.
Global grain markets remain highly sensitive to weather, Black Sea developments, and import demand—and this tender is another reminder that major buyers are actively locking in supplies.

Myth: Russia's #wheat harvest is being derailed by diesel shortages.
Reality: there is a delay - but it's minor, and it's about crop development running slightly behind, not fuel.
Most likely forgotten in a few weeks.
A real multi-week bottleneck from diesel shortage is a different story - highly unlikely. The harvest window after ripening is only about 7-10 days before grain loss from shattering kicks in. Prep starts months ahead: equipment, transport, fuel, all lined up.
Even in isolated cases where fuel runs short, farmers pay up. Fuel cost per hectare is a fraction of the crop value at stake.

This years wheat crop is a global disaster. There is so much lost crop this year it’s insane.
China hold over half the worlds wheat reserves and that wheat doesn’t go for sale on the open market. Their wheat crop was hammered by rain this year dropping a large percentage of it to feed quality. Need to import.
Indian crop down 10% with wheat export ban.
Australia wheat acreage down huge 12% and they got hammered by fertilizer input prices.
USA has the lowest quality crop in nearly 20 years.
EU crops getting baked into bread right now.
Canada is flooding, most likely because God thinks Canada is fake and gay.
Going to be interesting for wheat holders eventually. Might be the year.

#BIG BREAKING: Cabinet reshuffle likely Sunday or Monday. Home minister Amit Shah met President Murmu Thursday and suggested either day for reshuffle.

Nitish Kumar still carries weight. Likely to be inducted.
Shiv Sena MP Pratap Rao Jadhav could be divested of MoS Health which could go to Sanjay Dina Patil, one of six turncoats who defected from the Uddhav Thackeray Shiv Sena but kept the BJP on tenterhooks till the very end. We now know why. Jadhav gets to keep AYUSH.

#WATCH | Delhi | IMD scientist Dr Naresh Kumar says, “As per our press release, El Niño conditions are prevailing. As the time progresses in the monsoon, we are expecting it to further strengthen. As we have already issued the press release, monsoon is likely to be below normal...”
Russian spring #wheat area is coming in more than 10% below last year - and likely well below most expectations.
The reason is not just weather. Farmers in the Volga region and Siberia are actively shifting to sunflower and rapeseed.
This is a structural story, not a one-season anomaly.
What does this mean for Russia’s crop and global supply?

#Wheat OMSS 2026-27: My Expectations
One request - If you like my work then atleast give credit to my twitter account while copy pasting it in WhatsApp groups or on your research groups. 🙂
There is a lot of speculation in the market regarding the upcoming OMSS policy. While no official announcement has been made, my expectations are as follows:
Expected OMSS Reserve Prices
There can be 3 prices this year
1-FAQ Wheat (RMS 2026-27)- INR 2600/QTL
2- URS Wheat (RMS 2026-27)-INR 2550/QTL
3- FAQ Wheat (RMS 2025-26)-INR 2500–2550/QTL
Expected Quantity - Total OMSS allocation may be in the range of 8–10 MMT.
Likely distribution across quarters:
Quarterly share
A) - Jul-Aug-Sep (JAS) - 20% - 2 MMT apparox
B) - Oct-Nov-Dec (OND)- 60% - 6 MMT approx
C) - Jan-Feb-Mar (JFM)- 20% MMT apparox
Export Window
The OND quarter could coincide with a potential export window for India, making OMSS policy particularly important during that period. (due to possible higher global prices)
OMSS Base Price History so Far
Historically, over the last ten years, the Government has never fixed the OMSS base reserve price below MSP for current-crop wheat.
The only major exceptions to normal pricing were the Pan-India interventions:
2021: The objective was to liquidate large quantities of old wheat stocks from 2019, 2020, and 2021 crop years.
Market prices were trading near INR 1,700–1,800/qtl in 2021 and the Government aligned reserve prices closer to market levels to facilitate stock liquidation.
Year 2023: The objective was inflation management and procurement support.
Private wheat prices had risen sharply in the month of January (3050/qtl level) and next year MSP was 2125/qtl, while government stocks were declining.
Govt willingly crashed the market to cool the market and discourage excessive private buying ahead of the new procurement season so that FCI can buy wheat.
To give more comfort to private pan India OMSS was also declare till December end 2023
Current Market Dynamics
The 2026 situation is unique because the Government is balancing multiple objectives simultaneously:
- Wheat stocks are comfortable at approximately 56 MMT.
- Rice stocks are also exceptionally high at around 72 MMT.
- Inflation risks remain due to higher crude oil prices and geopolitical uncertainty.
- Weather risks persist due to the possibility of an El Niño event and below-normal monsoon rainfall.
- Reservoir levels and the outlook for the 2027 rabi crop remain important considerations.
- Political sensitivity to food inflation remains high.
As a result, the Government must balance stock liquidation, inflation management, and future food security considerations.
Market View
If OMSS reserve prices are announced broadly in line with the expectations above, wheat prices may witness a short-term recovery of 5–6% during July as policy uncertainty is removed and immediate supply concerns ease.
Such a rally could provide an opportunity for stockists to book partial profits.
At the same time, flour millers should avoid waiting for excessive volatility or assuming significantly lower OMSS prices.
Given the uncertainty surrounding policy, weather, and inflation, maintaining adequate coverage for at least a portion of requirements would be a prudent risk-management strategy.
