Today I learned that a lot of people think that paying minimum due on credit cards avoid penalties and interest. And they end up paying 30% plus interest annualised on balance due.

Why is it not explicitly mentioned on the minimum due figure that this is bare minimum and this incurs heavy interest on outstanding amount along with interest? Can’t RBI and finance ministry mandate a rule that against minimum due amount on statement they have to clearly say how much extra interest people have to pay if they only pay minimum due?

In India, where education is probably the only genuine route for students to get out of the vicious cycle of poverty, it is the solemn duty of the government to be extra vigilant when it comes to anything with it.

Students spend years and years on preparation, leaving their parents and relatives, sacrificing all pleasures and desires, locked away in dingy rooms, going over and over the same chapters, all in the hope that they ace an exam in which the odds are so heavily stacked against them, that a hole in one in Golf has a higher probability.

Every student, who is not the son of politician, bureaucrat or a rich businessperson, is under so much pressure and stress, that there isn't a gauge that has enough readings to measure it.

And they go thru all of this willingly because of one fundamental belief.

They trust that the exam system is fair and their efforts will be rewarded.

If a govt shakes that belief and trust, you are going to have a generation that will lose all hope in future.

Which is why the Govt has to get thru the bottom of this as quickly as possible, sack everyone, and by everyone I mean everyone from the peon to the minister involved in this fiasco and restore trust in the system.

Because, the only thing the students have left, is trust.
