मेरी नजर में महात्मा गांधी सच्चे सनातनी हिंदू थें। महात्मा गांधी से ज्यादा हिंदू धर्म को समझने वाला और उसकी सटीक व्याख्या करने वाला कोई दूसरा नहीं हुआ।
हिंदू धर्म का मर्म गांधी ने समझा था इसलिए गांधी बेहद धार्मिक व्यक्ति थें और गांधी के जीवन में धर्म हमेशा केन्द्र में रहा।गांधी का समस्त,चिंतन,नीतिया,
जीवनशैली धर्म आधारित थे और यह उनके दिनचर्या में दिखता था।गांधी का धर्म सभी धर्मो को जगह देनें के बाद भी अपने आधार रूप मे एक सनातनी हिंदू का धर्म था।
गांधी के जीवन में, राजनीति में और जीवन के हर क्षण में धर्म प्रच्छन्न था। गांधी के जीवन मे धर्म विहीन कुछ नहीं था।
गांधी का यह धर्म पूरी तरह ईश्वर,आध्यात्मिकता, आत्मा और नैतिकता से परि��ूर्ण था। गांधी के आरम्भिक संस्कार जैन धर्म के पांच सूत्र अहिंसा, अस्तेय, सत्य, अपरिग्रह और ब्रह्मचर्य से बने थे। गांधी के जीवन में ईश्वर और आत्मा का महत्व था, इसलिए गांधी की प्रार्थना में, भाषणों में, ईश्वर और आत्मा हमेशा उपस्थित रहते थें।गांधी की वेशभूषा और आचरण मे एक संत की छवि थी।गांधी का धर्म वैश्विक था,जिसमें दु��िया के किसी भी धर्म की भाषा समाहित हो सकती थी।'सत्य','अहिंसा' उनके धर्म के दो चक्र थे।
गांधी के जीवन को देखकर आश्चर्य होता है कि कैसी निष्कलुष चेतना रही होगी, जो इतने झंझावातों के बावजूद डिगी नहीं।ना कभी झूठ बोला,ना कभी हिंसा का मार्ग सुझाया,छले जाकर भी मन में द्वेष नहीं आने दिया,धोखा खाकर भी भरोसा नहीं गँवाया,गाली सुनकर भी मन में क्रोध नहीं जगा,किसी को अपमानित करने की भावना नहीं आई,आत्मा में कुछ अवरुद्ध नहीं हुआ।उलटे उन्होंने यही सोचा कि मुझमें ही कोई दोष रहा होगा,जो मैं देश को समझा नहीं सका।
यह महात्मा गांधी का व्यक्तित्व ही था कि तमाम मतभेदों के बाद भी कविवर रवीन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर ने उन्हें महात्मा कहा,नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस ने उन्हें राष्ट्रपिता कहा,हिन्दुस्तान ने उन्हें ��्यार से बापू कहा, विस्टन चर्चिल ने उन्हें नंगा फकीर कहा।नेल्सन मंडेला,मार्टिन लूथर किंग जैसी विभूतियों ने उन्हें अंहिसा का पूजारी कहा।
गांधी बेजोड़ थे।उनके जैसे लोग भारत में क्या, सारे संसार में दुर्लभ होते हैं।कई सदियां कीचड़ में डूब जाती हैं, तब गांधी जैसा महात्मा जन्म लेता हैं।
अल्बर्ट आइंस्टीन ने सच ही लिखा था कि 'भावी पीढ़ियों को विश्वास ही नहीं होगा कि इस धरती पर हाड़ मांस का कोई गा���धी कभी जन्मा भी था।

Captain Smit Machchhar joins this list that was founded by Michel Bacos (1924–2019), captain of the hijacked Air France Flight 139 of Raid on Entebbe fame, 50 years ago.

When the hijackers released most of the non-Jewish passengers but kept the Jewish and Israeli passengers hostage, they offered to release Bacos and his crew as well.
He refused to abandon his passengers. All 11 other crew members agreed to remain with him, despite knowing they might be killed.

In a 2016 interview, Bacos explained: “The crew refused to leave, because this was a matter of conscience, professionalism, and morality.”

ONE YEAR AGO, hero Captain Smit Machchhar was asked if he's ever had to give 110% when flying.

He told a story about an approach to Mykonos, Greece that was extremely difficult due to wind shear. He said that it required him to give 200%.

Given that he just got stabbed while saving the lives of 174 people, it looks like he has a new story where he gave a lot more than 200%.

The part I can’t get past is what Smit Machchhar did after he was stabbed.

He was bleeding, the aircraft had just gone into a terrifying plunge, and somehow he kept fighting long enough for passengers and crew to get into that cockpit and overpower the other pilot. Two additional flydubai pilots aboard eventually took control and landed the plane safely in Saudi Arabia.

Everybody made it.

Think about who was sitting behind Machchhar. Most of those passengers weren’t his countrymen. They were simply 174 people who had gotten on his airplane and trusted him to get them home.

When everything went wrong, that was enough.

There will be investigations and plenty more to learn about exactly what happened aboard FZ1073. But 174 people walked off that airplane alive.

The captain’s name is Smit Machchhar.
