A website is a product.

A landing page is a product.

To build one that actually delivers value to companies or clients, you have to have a grasp on

- stakeholder discovery calls
- synthesizing requirements & goals
- understanding target personas
- defining desired outcomes
- social proof and trust
- brand positioning
- visual & UI design
- copywriting
- motion design *
- illustrations *
- no code *
- CTAs

I could go on, but I don't think there's really anything to prove here, this is obvious knowledge to most people that are designers or work with designers.

Are you a newbie designer? Do website design freelance projects!

Working at an agency? Well, you have to design everything clients need, including websites!

Working at a startup? At some point you will be expected to design landing pages!

Especially if you want to freelance – there's more clients out there that need websites than apps. It's kinda common sense, but when was the last time you downloaded a new app? These days, unless you're well funded + aiming for unicorn status + ready to support, imo it doesn't make sense.

There's a huge global market outside of the twitter and yt bubble, real businesses that need problems solved with websites. They can't afford $100k dev salaries, they're looking for people that get the job done.

At this stage, this guy is not even making any real points. He's just spreading misinformation to dissuade designers from making progress, all while intimidating designers that ARE working hard on their skills.

Anyone who tries to refute his point, gets faced with confident word soup OR just gets their comments deleted. Interestingly twitter is the only platform where you can't delete someone else's comments on your content @KvsChethan

I kinda feel bad for designers who don't know any better and are just taking his word for it, but oh well no worries, they'll come around to it eventually.

His argument comes down to "I don't like to design websites, apps are what's cool"

my brother in christ, you literally reported to me at Unacademy and iirc you worked on a LOT of landing pages and websites lol

in summary – I don't like nitpicking on bullshit, but this is an exceptional case because iykyk. this isn't even the worst of it

fuck ppl like this who have inflated egos, personal grudges & abusing their platform to spread weird propaganda
