A student pilot successfully landed a plane by herself after her instructor jumped to his death mid-flight
She said her instructor told her "You know what to do" before leaping from the aircraft
17 year ago today I went into labour, on my 16th birthday. 3 days later I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. I thought I was saved from the horror I was living, being raped daily by gangs of men for years. I thought that we would both be saved and we would get to a safe place and live happily ever after. Instead they took her from me because "i was exposed to a pedophile ring and it wasnt safe for a child", yet they left me there to carry on being raped.
17 years ive lived without her. Without knowing where she is or if she is even alive. Ive missed her first everything. I sometimes lay and imagine hiw she will look or what she is like. There will always be a part of me missing that went when they took her. There will always be grief for every second I live without her in my life, and no amount of justice will ever bring that back. No amount of accountability on failings will ever fix that.
Every year on my birthday I struggle knowing that 3 days later im missing her birthday and that its another year added onto my grief.
This year has been harder than normal with everything else going on and the trauma this has all dragged up for me.
Im normally the strong one. The one that picks things up for the others and helps them fight. Thats there listening to them and helping them through their suffering. But right now im barley even getting through each day and I feel like im letting everyone down.
Im trying to pick myself back up and face everything head on but its not as easy as I wish it was. Im 33 year old today and what happened to me as a child still haunts each and every day, each and every dream and every part of my life. Its left scars that will never heal and a burden thats hard to carry. Im sorry to everyone thats having to deal with seeing my statuses as I know they are alot different lately than they normally are but I really think its important that people understand the level of trauma left for the victims to deal with and the failings still coming along with that. Everyone sees me holding things together on TV and fighting all the time, but in reality I still have to deal with so much that sometimes the load can become unbearable.
Recently is one of them times.

'...The cat curls once around the moon, and the night, finding no edge, closes its eyes...'
A 17 year old girl offered a lad a lift. That's it. That's her whole crime. Being kind. He got in. Then three more climbed in after him.
FOR SIX HOURS, police say, they raped her. Over and over. Driving her round Sydney in her own car like she was a thing, not a child.
Then they dumped her back in the driver's seat and walked off like they'd done nothing. She's SEVENTEEN and she has to live with this for the rest of her life.
That's one of them being marched out of a house in cuffs. The only one of the four old enough to be named. The rest hide behind their age. They were 14, 16 and 18.
Listen to the family screaming at the police. Why are you arresting him. Why him. Shut your mouth, don't say a word. Not one of them screaming for her.
Here's what police say happened, because it's worse than people know.
Half five on a Sunday. Liverpool Westfield, southwest Sydney. A 16 year old she'd never met starts chatting, all friendly, follows her to her car and talks his way in and while he's allegedly attacking her, police say he's on a video call to the others. Filming it. Sending it round. Calling them in.
So no, this wasn't something that just got out of hand. They were watching, allegedly, before they even turned up.
He asks for a lift to a park. She says yes, thinking he'll get out when they arrive. He doesn't. Two more are waiting. A fourth pulls up in another car. And then, police allege, they took control of her own car and drove her round the suburbs while it carried on.
The detective leading the case didn't hold back. She said it beggars belief that men would act this way over six hours and then the line that sticks. In all those six hours, not one of them stopped and said to the others, this is wrong. Not once.
Six hours. Till half eleven at night, when they allegedly left her in the car and walked off. She rang a mate, who drove her to the police station and this is the part that should make people sit up.
That girl, after all of that, gave police a detailed statement over several days. The detective called it the strength of the victim. She is the reason they had the evidence at all. She handed them the case.
Look at the charges if you think it's being overblown.
The 16 year old on his own faces 24 of them. Nine counts of sexual intercourse without consent. The 14 year old, ten more.
A dedicated unit, Strike Force Dungannon, was set up to chase it down and they didn't rush it for a headline. They waited SIX MONTHS to arrest the two older ones, quietly building the case so it would hold.
The moment they knew they could throw the book at them, they moved. When they did, they needed the riot squad to get them out of the houses and none of it happened last week. This was December 2024.
That girl has carried it for over a year already. And it's only grinding through court now, in 2026. Still going. Still not done. She's still waiting.
She was kind for thirty seconds. They took six hours and the rest of her life for it. Four of them. One girl and over a year on, she's STILL waiting for justice to catch up.
That's the world we're handing our daughters.
So remember her. Because the system already wants you to forget and ask yourself what kind of country leaves a child waiting this long.
"French National" Appears In Court Charged With Raping & Murderering His Own 2-Year-Old Daughter In Surrey.
In a crime that has left even the most experienced and hardened detectives visibly shocked, a 31-year-old man has been charged with the rape and murder of his own two-year-old daughter in Surrey.
Kevin Kerjean, a French national born in Central African Republic, is accused of sexually assaulting and killing tiny Assia Kerjean in the family home.
Police were called to a flat on Pyrcroft Road in Chertsey, Surrey, at around 5.40pm on Thursday, June 25, after reports of a concern for safety. Officers arrived to find the body of a two-year-old baby lying dead inside the property. Kerjean was arrested at the address.
He has now been charged with murder, rape of a child under 13, and sexual assault of a child under 13.
The Crown Prosecution Service have confirmed the victim was his own daughter, Assia.
Heartbreaking pictures show bouquets of flowers left at the entrance to Syward Place, the apartment complex where the tragedy unfolded. Locals, many in tears, have been paying their respects to a little girl whose life was taken away in the most horrific way possible.
Kerjean entered the UK legally and was granted leave to remain in March 2021 after applying for EU Settled Status. He appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Monday via video link from HMP Wandsworth. Speaking through an interpreter, he confirmed his name before being remanded in custody. His next appearance is set for September 14.
Despite the brutality of the alleged crimes, there has been no indication that Kerjean has been declared mentally unwell or unfit to plead.
Major Crime detectives are still piecing together the final hours of little Assia's short life. A full post-mortem has been carried out, but the exact cause of death has not yet been made public.
The thoughts of the entire country are with Assia's mother, extended family and all those who knew and loved the little girl.

This zodiac image is a woodcut from the 1512 Augsburg edition of Regiomontanus’s 'Kalendarius teütsch'. In this visual, the names of the zodiac signs are provided in text. Rather than using pictorial figures - such as a ram, bull, twins, crab, or scorpion - each sign is depicted through schematic star patterns.
The figure behind this publication is Regiomontanus, born Johannes Müller von Königsberg. Born in 1436, this German mathematician and astronomer specialized in calendars, celestial phenomena, and astronomical tables. There’s an important distinction to make: Regiomontanus wasn’t the engraver of this 1512 edition. Since he passed away in 1476, this page should be interpreted as an early 16th-century Augsburg printing that exemplifies the calendar and astronomical legacy he established in the 15th century.
Back then, the zodiac served a function far broader than the personality interpretations common today. In the tradition of medical astrology, the sign occupied by the Moon was a critical factor in determining which part of the body could be treated. The associations were as follows: Aries with the head and face; Taurus with the neck and throat; Gemini with the shoulders and arms; Cancer with the chest area; Leo with the heart and back; Virgo with the abdomen and intestines; Libra with the waist and kidneys; Scorpio with the reproductive organs; Sagittarius with the thighs; Capricorn with the knees; Aquarius with the lower legs and ankles; and Pisces with the feet. That’s why, when scheduling bloodletting, administering medication, or performing certain surgical procedures, it was necessary to consider not only the date but also the position of the Moon within the zodiac.
