So before sneering at an “uncle”, perhaps a useful question is: What have you built? How many lives have you positively touched?

Respect should be earned by contribution, not cancelled by age.

@ggmu4_ll 72% is just a stat. Anyone who watched the game knows we were thoroughly beaten and we didn't look like scoring all day. Ponderous in possession, missing intensity out of possession and wrong tactics against a back 5 were a recipe for disaster. Key is how quickly we learn

We’re no longer a football club in the traditional sense. We’ve become a commercialised institution where financial gain appears to take priority over footballing ambition.

The football side is simply kept afloat by doing the bare minimum while expecting the maximum in return. The ambition isn’t to build a great football team it’s to maintain the machine, protect the commercial interests, and somehow expect success to follow.

And that mentality resonates from the very top to the very bottom. It becomes embedded in the culture in the decision-making, the expectations, the standards and ultimately the mentality of everyone within the institution. When the priority is commercial sustainability rather than footballing excellence, that mindset inevitably filters down through every level.

You end up with a culture where mediocrity can become acceptable, short-term fixes replace long-term ambition, and doing enough is celebrated as if it were exceptional. The problem isn’t simply one manager, one player or one department it’s a mentality that has become institutionalised from top to bottom.

INEOS PR succeeding once again - Attention is all on Carrick vs Amorim. Truth is we are building a new Brighton squad with youngsters in key positions with young and inexperienced managers. Can work with right blend of quality and experience in the squad which they won't pay for.

@giddy_fx It isn't about Carrick or Amorim. Our issues yesterday were deeper than just bad tactics. We look underprepared and the worrying thing is many of these players had a pre-season. Some didn't and they looked off the pace but rest didn't cover themselves in glory either

@AdamJoseph 100% agree. We don't need to add to the media pile on while being objective in our analysis. Focus should be on the ownership and management if it turns out that we are underprepared for the season. We need a good start as that will help us with many teams in transition.

@MartienBall We live in an either-or world when the answer is a both-and. Amorim's team had the physical discipline but the tactical inflexibility cost us in terms of results (eg. 10 man Everton). Carrick put players in their positions and played counterattack which worked with our fitness.

@AdamJoseph It wasn't about one player. The whole team looked off pace and that is worrying for the start to the season. Combine that with reports during pre-season that we are lowering the intensity on running to focus on technical work being highlighted as a positive.

@ggmu4_ll It was not just the set pieces. We were struggling to defend the crosses before that. They were whipping in the crosses from the wing and we were struggling with them even before we conceded. We just didn't win many duels on the pitch or in the air. We simply didn't seem ready

Dorgu wasn't our problem in today match, many of you will not agree blc y'all don't want him in that position, Dorgu was the only player making runs and arriving in opponents box, Cunha ran away from his CF position, he doesn't even know when to make run inside the box, Midfield were not creating anything meaningful, what do you expect Dorgu to do, do magic, Dorgu didn't cause the goal, so why is everyone making it look like Dorgu was the reason why we lost today match.

Watching Brentford play Spurs, their intensity and running has been everything missing from the United performance today. There was a particular transition when Thiago and Outtara just recovered quickly to prevent a counter. United are slow and labored in and out of possession.

@mark_robinson_ Oh is he wrong? There were too many people glazing INEOS for making decent signings and calling our squad world class. That narrative fell at the first hurdle.
