We shudnt decide some1s guilt based on emotions or politics. If there are allegations, investigate them and let the evidence speak.

If we can't learn to do this, I don't see us becoming a truly developed country even in the next 10 generations. 👍👍

A student at IIT Bombay dies by suicide.

Outrage against the IIT admin.

IIT clarifies that the student was caught using ChatGPT for answers during an exam, was counselled. He went to hostel and died by suicide.

Student's father suddenly realised that since last many months, his son was subjected to caste based abuses by Prof Doolla, the faculty who caught him cheating, and this caste based harassment was "under the directions of IIT director".

Politically suitable scenario, caste groups jump in. Dalit Politicians jump in, including those in power and speak against the professor.

The eminent and illustrious professor, with an impeccable career, is now subjected to a media trial, receives threats, faces calls to be hanged, and is booked under the SC/ST Atrocities Act.

The IIT director resign/forced to resign.

The Ministry of Education, under which IIT operates, does not utter a single word in support of the Prof Doolla who is being hounded simply for doing his job as per the laid down procedure.

On the contrary, IIT Bombay today apologized for its tweet about the cheating incident, stating that the cause of death remains under investigation.

Next, in all likelihood Professor Doolla will be sacrificed to calm the caste groups.

This country is beyond repair.

It is really sad to see people clapping when a professor and director are resigning.

Cheating should never be supported or encouraged. Caste should not be brought into every issue.

We are an educated society, and we should have the courage to speak up when something is wrong.

I strongly oppose the charges against Prof. Suryanarayana Doolla of IIT Bombay under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

My background: I belong to the Devendra Kula Vellalar (DKV) community, classified as SC. I grew up in deep rural poverty and witnessed the suffering of my people first-hand. I was educated thanks to broad-minded people from many communities.

I studied Electronics at NIT Tiruchirappalli, worked at C-DOT Bengaluru, and then at Intel in India and the US, where I rose to Engineering Director and Senior Silicon Architect, responsible for high-speed interconnects vital to modern CPUs and GPUs. I hold multiple patents in this field.

I share this to make clear that I know what it means to come from an SC community and rise through hard work and commitment.

Our DKV community has taken a principled, voluntary stand not to file SC/ST cases against anyone. We have seen how cases under this Act are weaponised, and how that deepens enmity on the ground.

On that basis, I oppose the misuse of this Act in this case. The case against Prof. Doolla must be withdrawn. This matters for the future of SC/ST students and for our nation.

For students who came into IIT through 80 percentile. Just because some of you students came through 30 percentile, we can't make the paper that much easy for other students.

Shireesh Kedare - I am resigning because there was some of my fault. But each one of you children who has ever done cheating should leave this IIT now. I will also ask the watchman to resign just because he couldn't check someone's pant for a mobile phone. All the parents around the world should also resign from their parental duties if they can't raise a studious child. That student feared them, not us. Your parents should be ashamed to send you to IITs when you are not even capable of passing a single exam of IIT.
