Amodei: Pace the frontier. Fair on capability risk. But Anthropic's own extreme scenario +32% GDP & 18% knowledge-worker unemployment by 2030. Hard part isn’t pacing AI. It’s pacing the economy—who captures the upside, who absorbs the disruption, who moves up the judgment stack
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.

Is this AGI? Not yet. But it's the clearest picture yet of where frontier systems are heading: not better answers — entire research processes.
Euler→ intermediate result→ new search→ Navier–Stokes→ Lean

OpenAI says its internal model just proved Navier–Stokes — one of 7 Clay Millennium Prize problems, open for 90 years. Jensen Huang says "AGI has arrived."
I want to make a narrower claim.
Part the drama misses:
Both OpenAI & the mathematicians racing on the adjacent result leaned heavily on earlier obscure approach by Córdoba & Martínez-Zoroa. AI didn't conjure the path from nothing. Compute scales the exploration of good ideas. It doesn't yet replace having them.
Traffic jam, SF edition: both cars are #Waymo 😂
