In 2020, two months after my C-19 infection, I was admitted to the same hospital where I trained with a heart rate of 135 (sinus tach) and oxygen sat of 89 in bed.
My attending physician was a guy I’d been good friends with since intern year, who knew I was a healthy, endurance athlete.
He looked at the monitor and asked me if I thought my vitals were “real.” He then proceeded to document in the chart something along the lines of: “it may be anxiety but it may be something else.”
Really hoping insight has grown since then, and Simone gets prompt care for what’s causing her tachycardia. Because despite all I’ve seen in my career, and gone through as a patient, that was a snapshot in time that still haunts me.
And I’m still not well 6 years later.
@18DellaLia37961@jeffgilchrist Well, unless you were always a dick, presumably you were once a well person, and have since been infected by some contagion/pathogen to become a dick.
@messele@LyonsTruths@moreisdifferent And, as you probably know and are misleading people about (or perhaps are truly ignorant?), the various FFP standards are *minimum* standards. In practice vast majority of FFPs outperform the standards, especially ones by 3M, etc.
@messele@LyonsTruths@moreisdifferent In the real world, it’s common to measure on specialized equipment that people’s FFP2+ are performing to 99.3%+. Certain models are consistently 99.8%+, and that’s for even the hardest to filter MPPS. Other sizes will be filtered at higher levels. Not marketing, measurement.
@messele@LyonsTruths@moreisdifferent Your lack of domain knowledge and empirical experience is showing, and it’s very strange that you keep doubling down instead of maybe adding to your knowledge. It’s a good thing actually that reg people have access to PPE that works very well, and increasing access to fit tests.
Another month of data, and another climb in sickness absence at the world's sixth largest employer.
I've pointed out the start of the Covid Pandemic.
Can you point out the end?
@LyonsTruths@messele@moreisdifferent Yes, because farts contain gases that are not particles. N95+ masks filter particles down to at least 0.02um in size. Gases are 1000x+ smaller. Good thing, because it means we can still breathe O2 and expel CO2.
@messele@LyonsTruths@moreisdifferent For fit tested N95/FFP2+, typical fit factors are 125-1000, or 99.2-99.9% FE (not 98%, sorry you have trouble with reading), for all particles down to ~0.02um. For ref, virions are ~0.12um+ and infx bioaerosols usually ~0.5-5um. Yes, use N95+, not ear loop dust masks.
@messele@LyonsTruths@moreisdifferent You are correct that the mask you showed typically fits none. That’s why everyone talking about masking largely advise using N95/FFP2+ type respirator masks that do tend to seal and protect very well. Many of us test to 99.2-99.9% FE as worn, tested with QNFT.
@NukitToBeSure@YKamenin@alfwarrior Engineers I think also tend to think about what happens *if it fails* (or if XYZ low probability event happens). A lot of people don’t seem to care.
@EdgeOfInsane63@drseanmullen@yeepoa The missing piece of this analysis is the impact of an infection as a factor in the equation for risk assessment. Even if risk of airborne transmission is low, if the risk of bad outcome once infected is relatively high (death, sequelae, disability), it should not be dismissed.
@Biff234523 Well, the G2 I have now is basically down to <5 min battery so effectively it needs to be plugged in, no longer mobile. “Outdoors” also includes inside a car, or even a bright room. Lots of reasons why those two drawbacks are dealbreakers, though yes, best portable PM meter atm.
@Biff234523@ghhughes@airgradienthq IMO can’t compare the AirGradient Go and AirFanta G2. G2 battery is measured in min, maybe 1-2 hours. Next ver maybe 12 hours max. The Go is weeks. Then there’s the G2 screen, impossible to see (too dark) except indoors. And the app/data history, Tuya if it works vs open source.
@LapstrakeNYS@Sassafrass_84 Yes, we can only trust the grifters selling unregulated supplements and treatments. They would never lie to us about vaccines or anything else!
@messele@moreisdifferent This mask is not anywhere near the quality/level of the 3M Aura OP is wearing, and likely doesn’t seal well resulting in fine dust getting inside around the mask. You should probably upgrade your respiratory PPE, if you value breathing.
