1 month to go from 0 to 1: we started from scratch, and since then have raised some money, started a wetlab, built our AI engine, engineered and ordered the first batch of novel proteins, launched our cell culture work, and are about to start testing them

Inspired by the last week’s debates about the novelty of AI discoveries, we unleashed our internal AI for science engine to evaluate novelty in a transparent way. Enjoy our prior-art-based eval of a bunch of recent AI claims, be our guest! https://t.co/O8UM3G8LRH
TL;DR 2nd week: we found a lab, resolved the roadblocks OpenAI and Anthropic have placed on the way of AI-driven drug discovery. We’ve been chatting with angels/VCs., The first transfers are landing in our bank account. People want to work with us. More at https://t.co/DvnEVOWkCp
Did you spot Form 4 in today’s @apple Keynote? Form 4 could be seen in the background of the hardware sections of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo announcements!
There's a famous story about a Dutch bike company that printed a TV on its bicycle boxes and reportedly cut shipping damage by 80%. We tried the same idea with our immersive display at Brelyon. So far our beta units have been arriving in much more "untouched" condition.
it works!
One of the biggest enemies of a hardware startup isn't engineering. It's shipping.
Most companies print FRAGILE or THIS SIDE UP on the box. The problem? Nobody moving thousands of packages a day reads them.
With the current scaling laws of hardware and models, the top-tier LLMs would match a human scientist in 3-4 years, though still falling short of the superintelligent level.
The state-of-the-art models can fit up to 30-60 scientific papers in their context window, and effectively reason about them. It is still two orders of magnitude less than what an average scientist would learn throughout their career, and casually rely on in their daily work.
I’m kicking off a new stage of my life — I’ve left retro after 3.5 years, and have started my own company to speed up scientific discovery and aging research in particular

Dr @Andrei_Tarkhov from @retrobio_ on “No easy answers - AI-assisted protein
design for lifespan extension”
This is the very first time that data from @OpenAI is being presented on an ageing conference! Very exciting!
