Australia is about to experience one of the largest demand shocks in our history. The stimulus is too small & gives too little support to consumption. Its pure trickle-down & largely ignores working people whose expenditure drives demand #auspol
It should now be beyond any question that schools should be closed immediately and re-purposed to become child-care centres for the children of front-line personnel and anyone who for genuine reasons cannot be home during the day. @ScottMorrisonMP@GladysB#COVID19Aus
Sadly what’s been predicted for two weeks now. Was inevitable if they didn’t do anything significant. They’ve focussed on blocking the borders. But not enough on social distancing which is all that works. Heartbreaking. Oh it would have been so good to have been wrong.
So husband GP has just confirmed what I’ve suspected for about a week. That when the need arises he will go into the hospital system to assist. And live elsewhere for that period. We have 3 children under 5 and my heart is aching. Thanks for flattening that curve, ScoMo. Not.
From a GP. High staff anxiety ..... ceasing nursing home & house calls. Only the beginning. No strategy seems in the offering - only advice on guidelines & protocols. need the right resources now. Won’t happen! Italian scenario awaits.
Concerned about many reports I am getting of companies that could have staff working from home but not allowing or encouraging it because Govt hasn’t required it yet. Please, anyone who can, work from home. Stronger message required. #FlattenTheCurve#coronavirusau#auspol
Leaders should lead by example. Morrison is adamant all children should be at school during #coronavirus. But when asked about his own children, just says “they are enrolled” and “as a father, I think kids should be at school”. Are they at school, or not at school? @smh#auspol
877 confirmed #coronavirus cases in Australia this morning. On 1 March there were only 21. A week ago it was 197. Three days ago it was 414. Our trend is closer to Italy or UK than Singapore. Australian Govts need to put social distancing breaks on much harder, right now #auspol
@AnnetteMarner@latingle According to #ScottyfromMarketing we have to really get stuck into land clearance and have a states comparian league table showing who the native habitat destruction laggards are.
@latingle Land clearing kills more than 100,000 Australian animals every day. And destroys their homes forever.
