Dora, Boots, and their little one have a nest in a secluded burrow in the upper section of their habitat. The chick will stay out of sight for a while, taking time to grow.

A puffling! Omg this is exciting, especially considering that tufted puffin populations have declined significantly, at least one more has been added to the numbers 😍

The Seattle Aquarium just got a lot cuter! This tufted puffin chick—or puffling 🥰—hatched on August 3. 🖤

The doting parents are longtime bonded pair Dora & Boots. Tufted puffins generally mate for life & share parenting duties, like nest building, egg incubation and feeding.

@scottymax @Megtedge The ECO team has had a dedicated entanglement observer out there since 2 summers ago, and it’s helping to have someone full time in the summer because then they rally the rest of the team to disentangle the seals. Been really great to see!
