A few highlights from our 60th Anniversary VMSG Meeting last week in Bristol. Thanks to @smitchell_sci for taking all these fab images and thanks again the local organising committee for putting on a wonderful conference!
Humbled and honored that my photo taken on the second day of the Fagradalsfjall eruption in March 2021 has won the @vmsg2024 60th anniversary photo competition for the Volcanoes & Society category. A big thank you from me to everyone that voted for it ❤️
With #VMSG2024 over it's already time to look forward to next year. We're very excited that for VSMG 2025 we'll be heading to Dublin for a joint assembly with @MDSG_UK! 🇮🇪🌋
A glorious day at Sand Point, Somerset, to finish up #VMSG2024 looking at marine volcanic rocks from the carboniferous. Thank you to all who joined us, and safe travels home everyone!
One of our highlights from last night's Bristol Volcano Film and Art Festival! Thank you to all those who came and interacted with the public (and played in the topography sandbox 😉) Great work and setup from @MBVolcanology
Sir Steve Sparks gave an excellent pre-dinner talk on the history of volcanology and @vmsg_uk over the past 60 years! Then, dinner in the Wills Memorial Building Great Hall, which I was last in for my PhD graduation!

And so ends the 60th anniversary @vmsg2024 conference. As always, it was great to meet up with the @vmsg_uk family, learn about all the amazing volcanic research everyone is doing, and all round have a blast! Thanks Bristol LoC and everyone!! 🌋💎
Great crowds through into our @vmsg_uk Volcano Outreach room between screenings of "Into the Inferno" and "Lava Bombs" at @wshed bar and cinema. Thank you to all of those who helped bring and run stands! 🙌🏽🙏🏼🌋
