Hi @Romer
This gives hope to someone who has been barely surviving. I genuinely hope that one day I get to truly live life instead of just trying to make it through each day.
In our country, education often feels like a privilege, and poverty steals dreams. As the eldest and the breadwinner of my family, I had to stop college to provide for our family's basic needs and support the education of my younger siblings. I tried to juggle work and my studies while doing everything I could to maintain my scholarship, but I eventually got burned out with lack of sleep and pressure of deadlines. I had to prioritize what would put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads.
I even lied about my age just so I could start working earlier because no one would hire someone under 18 years old. I've worked different jobs, including night shifts, just to put food on the table and help pay our rent while I was still in high school. I wore the same uniform and shoes from first year until my fourth year in high school, even when they no longer fits, because buying new ones wasn't an option.
It's hard when you have no one to rely on but yourself. There were times it felt incredibly depressing, but life doesn't even give you the luxury of stopping. At a young age, I learned that if I wanted a better future, I had to work hard. But sometimes, no matter how hard you work, the system still keeps you living paycheck to paycheck.
Regardless of how much I earn, I never forget to share whenever I can. I organize small food donation drives for the homeless in our city because I know how hunger feels. My struggles have taught me compassion, and if I can help someone else, even in a small way, I will.
I keep reminding myself not to give up. I still believe that one opportunity can change a life. I hope this could be that opportunity not just for me, but for my family and for the dreams we've had to put on hold for far too long. I want the chance to finish the education I had to leave behind, build a more stable future for my family, and be an instrument to also help others.
I'm deeply grateful for this chance ๐ค
