L’automne s’installe, et avec lui, l’eau de nos lacs qui se glace doucement avant l’hiver.

Sauf que le Québec, lui, vient d’y plonger les deux pieds d’un coup. Et le choc thermique est brutal.

L’été a passé, l’élection provinciale aussi.

Le temps de l’insouciance, des petits bonheurs et des fausses promesses a gardé pas mal tout le monde la tête dans les nuages.

Mais ce que Statistique Canada vient de nous sortir, ce ne sont pas des données aux refrains d’airs de vacances.

La réalité, c’est une douche froide en pleine face pour des milliers de familles québécoises et canadiennes.

69 000 emplois perdus dans le pays de Mark Carney en septembre seulement.

Sur ces 69 000 postes évaporés, 49 000 l’ont été au Québec.

On écope à nous seuls de près de 70 % du naufrage canadien.

Et c’est pas de la petite job précaire.

Sur ces 49 000 pertes chez nous, 43 000 sont des emplois à temps plein. Des gagne-pain rayés de la carte d’un seul coup.

Quand on regarde la tendance au Québec depuis janvier, le bilan est terrifiant : c’est près de 130 000 emplois qui se sont évaporés dans la province en neuf mois, une baisse de 2,8 %.

Pour nos jeunes de moins de 29 ans, c’est une véritable hécatombe.

Leur taux de chômage grimpe à 13 %, ramenant la participation des jeunes à son niveau le plus bas depuis 29 ans. Ça nous ramène en 1997… les plus vieux se souviennent très bien de l’ambiance économique qui régnait à l'époque.

Depuis janvier, l'emploi global recule de près de 3 %, poussant le taux de chômage à 6,0 %, une hausse brutale de 0,8 point en neuf mois.

C’est ça, la réalité terrain.

Pas celle des communiqués de presse embellis d’Ottawa ou de Québec, mais celle des tables de cuisine où on calcule les cennes pour arriver à payer le loyer et l'épicerie.

Le choc brutal après l'inaction d’Ottawa

On nous promettait des jours meilleurs, de la rigueur et une gestion économique moderne. Plusieurs ont bu les paroles, plusieurs en agitant les coudes.

Pourtant, depuis son arrivée à la tête du gouvernement, le premier ministre Mark Carney brille surtout par son indifférence devant les tensions avec nos voisins et la détérioration du climat des affaires.

Pendant qu’à Ottawa on multiplie les grandes déclarations et les grandes annonces de rabais sur des thermopompes, la vraie vie, elle, a commencé à changer de face.

L'inaction du gouvernement Carney commence à se payer au prix fort.

Le Québec est encore le champion récipiendaire du désastre, une bonne vieille habitude.

Pourquoi sommes-nous toujours en première ligne quand la hache tombe ?

Parce que nos structures régionales et nos secteurs clés subissent de plein fouet l'inertie fédérale et le manque absolu d'adaptation aux réalités d'ici.

Quand 43 000 postes à temps plein disparaissent en 30 jours dans une seule province, on ne parle plus d'une « fluctuation saisonnière » ni d'un « ajustement technique ».

On parle d'une crise sociale qui couve.

Si le gouvernement Carney pense pouvoir continuer à regarder ailleurs pendant que les travailleurs du Québec et les jeunes du pays coulent sous la vague, le réveil s'annonce douloureux.

Les chiffres ne mentent pas, et la patience du monde ordinaire aura ses limites.

Mais pour l’instant, l’eau du lac n’est peut-être pas encore assez froide… Il faudra peut-être attendre que le monde d'ici se frappe le nez sur la glace pour un réveil complet.
