I live right by the fair and park cars. We had multiple emergency calls in and the operator told us not to engage even though there were about 20-30 16-25yr olds pulling on our door and banging on our windows. A huge issue is due to Hmong academy being allowed to park when they aren’t in the parking district and have ZERO security or police when you can have upwards of what? 2,000+ people there EASY at one time.

And this happened on more than one occasion where we were threatened or neighbors were. There was also an issue with FAKE $100 bills being passed to us. I carry the markers to check. And yes I hate to profile but all incidents were Somalian. None of which were arrested or taken in. No police there to help. Not against the police, but I am very upset with the dispatch saying they are busy and nothing they can do.

President Trump is now directing legal work toward giving American farmers and ranchers greater ability to PROCESS THEIR OWN FOOD instead of being forced to depend so heavily on a handful of massive processors.

And the scale of the states potentially affected is enormous.

Look at just five major cattle states:

TEXAS: 12.1 MILLION cattle and calves. 229,000 farm operations.

NEBRASKA: 6.15 MILLION cattle and calves. 44,100 farm operations.

KANSAS: 5.85 MILLION cattle and calves. 54,800 farm operations.

OKLAHOMA: 4.65 MILLION cattle and calves. 69,700 farm operations.

IOWA: 3.45 MILLION cattle and calves. 86,200 farm operations.

That's roughly 32.2 MILLION head of cattle across those five states alone, with nearly 484,000 farm operations.

Now understand why changing the processing structure matters.

America's meat-processing industry is heavily concentrated. USDA itself has documented the extraordinary increase in market share controlled by the four largest meatpackers, while Reuters reports the four dominant beef companies process roughly 85% of U.S. beef.

When four giant processors dominate that much of the market, the rancher raises the animal, carries the land cost, feed cost, fuel cost, labor cost, veterinary cost and weather risk - but still has limited leverage over the processing bottleneck.

Break that bottleneck and you potentially create an entirely different rural economy.

You could see thousands of new and expanded:

• Local slaughter and processing facilities
• Farmer and rancher cooperatives
• Butcher shops
• Packaging operations
• Refrigeration and cold-storage businesses
• Trucking and distribution companies
• Equipment suppliers
• Veterinary and inspection services
• Direct-to-consumer beef businesses
• Local brands selling American-grown meat directly into their communities

There are already roughly 570,000 American jobs in animal slaughtering and processing nationally. Nobody can honestly give you an exact number of jobs this new policy would create until the regulations and implementation rules are written, but decentralizing even a small percentage of processing could redirect substantial investment and employment toward rural America.

And President Trump's move isn't happening in isolation.

USDA already announced up to $500 MILLION through its SPUR program to strengthen smaller and mid-sized beef processors and create more stable markets for American ranchers.

THINK ABOUT THE ECONOMICS.

Instead of:

Rancher → Giant Processor → Distributor → Retailer → Consumer

You create more opportunities for:

Rancher → Rancher-owned/local processor → Consumer

or:

Rancher → Cooperative processor → Local supermarket/restaurants → Consumer

That means potentially MORE of the final retail dollar remaining with the people who actually raise the cattle.

More competition.

More negotiating power.

More small businesses.

More rural jobs.

More local investment.

More resilient food supply chains.

And potentially lower processing and transportation costs in markets where new facilities can operate efficiently.

There's another important point.

America currently has 94.2 MILLION cattle and calves, including approximately 28.5 MILLION beef cows. This is not some tiny corner of the economy. We're talking about one of America's fundamental food industries.

Of course, there's a catch.

You CANNOT simply remove every processing rule and call it a victory. Food safety, humane handling, disease control and inspection still matter enormously.

The real win would be removing unnecessary barriers that protect incumbents WITHOUT compromising American food safety standards.

If they get that balance right, this could become one of the most consequential things the Trump administration does for rural America.

Because instead of merely giving farmers another subsidy, you're potentially giving them something much more powerful:

CONTROL OF MORE OF THEIR OWN VALUE CHAIN.

Grow it.

Raise it.

Process it.

Brand it.

Sell it.

KEEP MORE OF THE MONEY.

THAT is how you rebuild rural economies.
