These comments under a video of an activist harassing ICE agents on the job are not “discourse.” They are people openly rooting for federal officers to get killed.

That is the part that should make anyone furious. ICE agents are executing immigration law. The response from some of the loudest voices on the left is not disagreement with policy. It is celebration of violence against the people doing the work.

The extra grotesque detail is that one of the comments came from a Venezuelan.

That is not a coincidence people should shrug off. The Biden-era border surge released large numbers of Venezuelan nationals into the country with limited ability to fully vet who they were, including people shaped by the Chavista system they left behind. Importing that political culture and then acting shocked when some of it shows up in comments cheering harm to ICE is willful blindness.

Law enforcement officers should not have to do their jobs while activists film them and commenters fantasize about them dying. That is not protest. It is a threat climate.
