@WixMusic customers! Since @wix dropped free store distribution with an ultimatum of either deleting releases (losing #spotify playlists etc) OR migrating with same terms to @soundrop (distributor linked to @cdbaby who take whopping 15% commission!) How have Soundrop treated you?
@aytgh @DrummerClown @YouTube Actually it is, with recordings, the audio fingerprints differ. With intellectual property (the song) you can cover and even release your own version as long as you get a license and pay royalties. YT would just ask you to declare original title, writers etc, and they'd get paid
@n97kurmi @MariaCzubinska @YouTube It's a start! Don't get me wrong, EU politicians are the reason for the current #Brexit fiasco in the UK, with their unwillingness to let the country control its immigration. So I know they can be stubborn and misguided, but the internet has been a free buffet for too long!
@aytgh @DrummerClown @YouTube Maybe, but YouTube have huge influence and they're scaring people into believing that online freedom is doomed. When actually, everyone will just adapt and be able to support creators and enjoy more music, art, than ever - because creators will actually get paid and have careers
@BurqaT@DanyPMK@YouTube I agree, but with #Article13 only being a directive, I doubt many countries will make it law as it stands. The issues I have are things like uploaders monetising other people's work and @YouTube paying a pittance. EU is just trying to make things fairer in a free-for-all culture
Current amount paid for a monetised YouTube #music video vs the same streamed song
1000 views / streams:
#YouTube = $1-2
#Spotify = $4.22
#AppleMusic = $8
Unsurprising that @YouTube are so opposed to Article 13 when they're robbing creators, shamefully pushing #SaveYourInternet
@DanyPMK It's not about freedom and liberty, it's about an internet culture that doesn't support creators and huge corporations that exploit their work. If you'd spent a lifetime learning to play or write music, you'd probably support the notion of #article13 in some form #SaveOurCreators
The level of manipulation that @YouTube spouts over Article 13 is shocking with their over-dramatic #SaveYourInternet They make Billions from artist's work & pay next to nothing in return, so it's a threat. Consumer's have had a free lunch for years, changes will never be popular
@ryanmerkley Do you work for free? Have you spent your life learning a skill, only to discover that millions of people & large corporations believe the precious things you create should be shared for free or exploited for their own financial gain? #CopyrightDirective#Copyright
