@jowole1216 That’s factoring in hitting when players are on base. Which is fine to look at it that way. But looking at it as strictly what the player at bat can control a HR is easily worth 4x more than a single.

@jewishnighthawk @AvgBelloFan A HR is the only hit that guarantees a run. That is factual. You can’t guarantee the next guy up is going to hit a single to get you in. You can’t guarantee there are runners on base when someone hits a single or that a runner even on second will score on a single.

@jewishnighthawk @AvgBelloFan You could argue that a HR is worth more than 4x because it guarantees a run. No other hit does that because you can’t guarantee a runner on base or that nobody will be thrown out. SLG alone to look at overall hitting value not great but that’s not its intention.
