Yyyeah to anyone seeing my replies in their timeline, I apologise. I'm mostly off this cursed app but got sucked back in this once, only to get baited by some very delusional, very disingenuous posse. I usually know better! But I've fucked off now :)
@LosRodrigosG I'm not taking anyone's word as gospel. I've simply got an issue with people taking Lestat's word as gospel against his two victims, which *is* clearly happening.
In any case, you keep misconstruing & sidestepping the point, so I'm gonna stop engaging here.
didn't lestat stalk louis? didn't he literally make New Orleans his home bc of him? didn't he turn louis and isolate him from the ppl who loved and cared about him? killed Lily to make louis even more of a deserted island? like I think the call is coming from inside the house
@otherbully in that trial too - he had enough energy to fuck with a couple homophobes at a distance, and enough autonomy to fuck with the script confidently several times too.
Maybe you think he doesn't owe Louis anything by now - sure, fine. But how you painted everything before is just
@otherbully they're still calling it out as misogyny. Saying it's "benevolent" is critiquing how he sees it for himself, akin to someone saying "but hey, I'm one of the good landlords".
@otherbully Only mentioning what Louis "did" to Lestat and not everything Lestat did to him and Claudia is not excusing him?
Also, tbh, with your previous example, looking at it again, I actually don't find it to be excusing Louis' behaviour at all. It's a critique of how he thinks, and
@LosRodrigosG That's.. not what they're saying at all? But when Lestat's telling in S3 is constantly referred to as "what actually happened", even by the actor himself, it's looking less like a theme of narrative unreliability & more like specific discrediting of his victims
@otherbully Think what you want of them in general, they're both complex, flawed characters. But my initial twt was specifically referring to their ipv, & how Louis fighting back does not make their relationship mutually abusive, as the other comment seemed to imply.
@otherbully I agree that's a wild take, but it's definitely also something people would say if it were Lestat, from what I've seen. You're right we must be on opposite corners of this app lol. Here's a take I saw recently, for example:
@hanningramingit@LosRodrigosG Wow lol okay 😂 I specifically mean worse to each other by the way, and if you really think that, yeah we got nothing more to say to each other that would be productive byeee
@hanningramingit@LosRodrigosG Did you genuinely come out of S1 and 2 thinking they were equally abusive? Does he need to have been the perfect victim and never fight back before people can be upset about how the show and fandom treat these two characters?
@LosRodrigosG@hamstercrime ? Maybe by showing actual growth, reflection, and remorse? Instead of backtracking, discrediting, telling us that the victims' truths they made us experience in S1&2 were actually just lies and the abuser was actually slandered this whole time?
