The year was 2019. Nobody yet knew what the next couple of years had in store, but people were already side-eyeing 5G towers, the rise of TikTok, and a still-closed-source GPT-2 that couldn’t even manage a limerick.
Luckily the people around me were kind and merciful, and simply branded me a “cognitive strategist,” which translated straight from the language of empaths as “dumb.”
While the LLM providers try to cosplay the Harkonnens and bake a “tokens must flow” principle into the economy, I’ve found a few genuinely worthwhile ways to use an LLM in my life.
