We are Voidforge Game Studio. We build slot games for Stake Engine, math first, art second. Our first title is EMBERION. The dev diary starts here.

Design question for slot devs and players: how many options is too many in a buy menu? Ours has two bonuses and three special spins, plus a Bonus Chance toggle. 18+
@TheGamblinDream For an idle that loops through a whole session, subtle beats flashy. Do you vary the pauses between loops, so it doesn't feel mechanical after the tenth repeat?
@rafaelborven@TributeGames The extended pose has a very clear silhouette, which is what keeps it readable even in a few frames. How do you split frames between the anticipation and the strike?
@JaseTheWizard@SkyMavisHQ@Ronin_Network Playtest feedback is most useful when it's tied to a specific moment, like the first 30 seconds or the first bonus round. Small teams can fix far more from that than from general impressions.
@gamblebrotha Volatility is really just how spread out the outcomes are, and the average RTP only shows up over millions of spins. In a short session, variance decides everything.
@Casquad25 Transparent RTP plus a hit frequency that matches the volatility label is my first check. A 50,000x cap means little if the base game is dry and the bonus rarely triggers.
@uiuxarih The symbol animations carry the theme well. One thing we've learned: keep idle loops subtle so the win animation clearly stands out, otherwise players stop reading the screen as feedback.
@FocusGamingNews@1spin4win "A familiar song with our own voice" is how we think about it too: familiar symbol hierarchy, with art and animation carrying the identity. In your view, what breaks a slot first: too many colours or too much motion?
@uiuxarih Readability at reel size is the hard part, and the low symbols here sit quietly behind the themed ones. Nicely done. Do you design symbols at final size first, or scale down from large illustrations?
Bonus Chance in EMBERION: every spin costs 3× the bet, Free Spins trigger about 5× more often.
13 spins at $3 = $39 to trigger the bonus. The bonus paid $11.96.
More bonuses, but the entry fee adds up.
Would you play a mode like this?

We bought a Super Spin in our slot EMBERION: $120 for one spin on a $1 bet.
Epic Win, $210.21. The next spin paid $110.22.
Two spins: paid $240, got back $320.
What do you check first in a buy menu: price, RTP or the feature?

@talkydonkey A common middle ground is a tracker-style format with pre-rendered samples. Sequencing is nearly free on CPU, and you keep the option to swap in streamed ADPCM for just the longest loops.
@WwwWario1 One thing that helps when there’s no budget: send composers a short list of 3-4 reference tracks and the exact moments the music has to support (menu, combat, boss). It makes their first draft much closer to what you want
@sllbailuo Run cycles read best when the foot contact timing matches the audio. If a footstep sound lands even 2-3 frames off, a good animation can still feel floaty
@BartekK349090 The simple look has a strength the detailed one has to earn back: readability at a glance. Locking a small palette and a hard silhouette rule can bring most of that clarity back without losing the new depth
@FreshPlayStudio Exactly. Our rule of thumb: if the first 20 spins give you nothing to react to, no max win fixes it. Do you build the base game first and the feature around it, or the other way round?
@i2_Games@MichaelBaughuk@loregameaudio Nice milestone. Hiring a composer and sound designers shows in how a game feels, and it’s a good story to tell in the store page too. Wishing Elandrake plenty more reviews.
