So I got it wrong on this Acura bumper repair.

Initially what I thought when the client sent in some pictures was that he was more surface level scratching and paint transfer. Originally I quoted them a fairly low price because I thought it was going to be a lot easier repair.

(And I always like to hook people up when I can. He needed it done immediately as well.)

So in this situation once I got started on the job I realized that the scratches and gouges were actually super deep into the plastic. The only way that they were going to come out was by sanding them down, primer, paint and clear coat. I could do a sprayless touch up repair but it would not come out very well. I even attempted a couple times and it was just not up to standards.

So instead what I ended up doing was kicking it up to the next level and doing a spot spray repair for them. No up charge.

The reason being and I don't normally offer this or do this but I know how to get stuff like this done without any issue. My motto is Further Beyond, so that means taking full responsibility and taking the burden of the situation upon myself.

And in this case, it turned out great. Not 100% flawless, but dramatically better.

Spot repairs like this can be done on site without any issues however it's got to be a really nice day, low wind, and the expectations have to be properly understood for what the results are going to be. If what folks need is a full sand and respray of the bumper that's something that should be done in a body shop in which case we provide free referrals to good shops in people's areas.

I must be a glutton for punishment.

I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this, the last couple videos that I posted about wheel repairs, people seem to think that when you respray a wheel, you're going to get tons of overspray over the whole car. 😳😱
