🇬🇧 THE SERCO FILES: FOLLOW THE MONEY

One of the biggest private companies operating Britain's asylum accommodation system is SERCO.

This isn't a charity.

It's a multinational outsourcing business operating government contracts.

So what does Serco actually do?

🏠 Provides asylum accommodation
🚐 Provides transport
💷 Provides subsistence payments
🏢 Manages a portfolio of rental properties
🤝 Works directly with private landlords
📍 Operates across the North West, Midlands & East of England

Serco is actively seeking landlords and says it will consider:
• HMOs
• Family homes
• Residential property
• Student accommodation

Its pitch to landlords includes:
✓ Long-term leases
✓ Repairs & maintenance
✓ Property management
✓ Monthly inspections
✓ No void periods
✓ No agency fees

And all of this sits inside the Home Office's enormous Asylum Accommodation and Support Contracts.

Now look at the money.

According to the National Audit Office, the THREE main asylum accommodation suppliers — Serco, Mears and Clearsprings — reported:

🚨 £383 MILLION IN PROFIT 🚨
between September 2019 and August 2024 across the seven regional contracts.
Average reported margin:

💰 7%

For Serco specifically, the NAO calculated an overall reported AASC profit margin of approximately:
💷 6%

Serco's two regions:

Midlands & East: ~7%
North West: ~4%

This is taxpayer-funded commercial infrastructure operating at enormous scale.

And Serco has history here.

It was also involved in the previous COMPASS asylum accommodation contracts going back to 2012.

So the questions are simple:

Who owns the properties?

Which landlords are receiving Serco payments?

Which property companies are supplying accommodation?

How much taxpayer money ultimately reaches them?

How much does Serco retain?

And how many properties are now tied into this system?

This is exactly why the asylum accommodation supply chain needs mapping.

🇬🇧 £15.3 BILLION. 7 CONTRACTS. 3 PRIME PROVIDERS.

I’ve been digging through the public record behind Britain’s asylum accommodation system.

The numbers are staggering.

🔴 £4.55 BILLION — original estimated value of the 7 main regional AASC contracts.

🔴 £15.3 BILLION — current forecast cost.

More than THREE TIMES the original estimate.

And those seven contracts are concentrated among just THREE prime providers:

• Clearsprings Ready Homes
• Serco
• Mears

One contract alone — Clearsprings South — went from an estimated £700 MILLION at award to a current forecast of £7 BILLION!!!

Then look at the wider spending:

🔴 £4.7 BILLION — asylum-support spending at its 2023/24 peak.

🔴 ~£4 BILLION — spent in 2024/25.

🔴 £2.1 BILLION — spent on hotels in 2024/25.

The accommodation costs are extraordinary:

HOTELS: £144.98 per person, per night.

DISPERSED ACCOMMODATION: £23.25.

Hotels were roughly SIX TIMES as expensive.

In the first seven months of 2024/25, hotels housed around 35% of people but consumed 76% of AASC contract expenditure.

At the height of the system:

🔴 ~56,000 people housed in hotels
🔴 £383 MILLION in reported supplier profits between Sep 2019 and Aug 2024
🔴 At least 43 significant subcontractors identified
🔴 257 modifications to the seven main contracts

And this is where the investigation gets bigger.

The three prime providers are only the top layer.

Underneath them sits a network of subcontractors, hotel operators, accommodation providers and landlords.

Yet there is still no comprehensive public register allowing taxpayers to see that entire supply chain in one place.

That is what we are mapping.

The contracts.
The companies.
The subcontractors.
The spending.
The publicly available corporate relationships.
The decisions.

£4.55 BILLION → £15.3 BILLION.

Many students complained about Arday's incompetence but the college and the Faculty ignored them.
