There is no logic in the #SafeThirdCountry agreements bn Canada & the US. The US is not safe. @JustinTrudeau, when are you going to prioritize human lives over efficiency? Hundreds of Salvadorans deported by US were killed or abused, report reveals https://t.co/Epqprgss8C

A beautiful day made even better by a bench positive at the Refugee Board today! The win makes all the stress, effort, an time that goes into preparing my clients' cases worth it! @ Toronto, Ontario https://t.co/IoJ9QNOmfN
On July 30th, communities around Ontario will be #UnitedForJustice & telling the Ford government to #SaveLegalAid. With more than 40 events around the province this will be the largest 1 day mobilization for #AccessToJustice in Ontario history!

People who are in immigration detention and those facing removal are now struggling to find legal representation. Legal Aid is unable to issue certificates to the private bar and the clinics are already overwhelmed and over capacity. Lives are being placed at risk. @fordnation
Very vulnerable people will be put in real danger & these delays will further increase costs.

"The board says the changes will lead to longer refugee hearings, more postponements and adjournments of hearings and more missed deadlines for paperwork."

@thrillerkb @fordnation While I agree that there needs to be change in the system, I would like to see real consultations with stakeholders and careful planning. When people have poor representation, the consequences can be (and often are) worse than if the individual had been a self-rep.
...Backlogs are cruel @fordnation. Legal professionals have been telling you the #cuts will create backlogs. Now the @IRB_Canada itself is warning you. So, three years from now you cannot absolve yourself of responsibility.
Imagine: You've fled your home where your life, and the lives of your family were at risk. It was a painful decision. You had to leave behind your parents, siblings, and friends. You don't know when, or if, you'll ever see them again... https://t.co/7LNlrOOPMi
...It's been seven years since you came to Canada. Suddenly, you're suddenly scheduled to appear for a refugee hearing. After seven or eight years, it turns out you may lose the new life you've settled into and the home you built. Imagine that...
