I was a young reporter in the #Buffalo bureau of UPI way back in 1977. This story went viral before there was an internet. Walter Cronkite (Google him) used it as a kicker on the CBS Evening News.
Mother Nature always has the last at bat.
It was my honor to unite a pair of photo heroes after they were gone @DirckHalstead1 was my friend and mentor. Both of us were fans of Robert Capa, but Dirck wins that contest! Dirck was also godfather to my first son Byron Kennerly @ImprovAmbassadr -- https://t.co/Z3n5LJqVjl
I believe that Nick Ut really is Zelig! Today he and Kim Phuc met @Pontifex at the Vatican. Nick and Kim changed the world in that moment of terror 50 yrs ago in Vietnam. Her ordeal. His photo. History was made. The power of photography. @PulitzerPrizes@BeschlossDC@jmeacham

We're beyond excited for EAW alumni Marcus Yam @yamphoto for winning 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for his coverage of the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban. Your work is inspiring and we couldn't be more proud of you!
Fifty yrs ago today was my 25th birthday in Saigon. Never thought I’d see it. I arrived in Vietnam a year earlier, and had so many close calls, I shouldn’t have lived. But I did. Every year after was a gift. When I hit 50 I doubled up, and today, on my 75th, I scored a triple!

"As Russia is trying to cut off the flow of information in Ukraine by attacking its communications infrastructure, the British news outlet BBC is revisiting a broadcasting tactic popularized during World War II: shortwave radio." @tiffkhsu has details here https://t.co/JqTRwUUxYw
The first person I know died in this war. My former colleague, TV cameraman Yevhenii Sakun, was killed yesterday as a result of Russian missile strike on Kyiv's Babyn Yar, along with 4 other people. It was a pleasure working with him. I'm devastated by this news. Eternal memory
Saddened to hear about the death of TV Photojournalist Yevhenii Sakun who was killed on Tuesday when a targeted Russian missile hit a TV facility in Kyiv. Four others were killed in the same attack. Ruthless dictator try to silence the journalists who shed light on injustice.
Lawrence Ferlinghetti, poet, publisher, painter and pivotal figure to the Beats and about every other counterculture literary movement in San Francisco, has died at 101.

Photojournalist David Gilkey's mother, Alyda Gilkey, remembers the man behind the lens: an adventurous soul who had a way of putting his subjects at ease. "All of his pictures seem to have a story," she says. https://t.co/6gRShbNMdr
FULL AMANDA GORMAN POEM:
“We will raise this wounded world into a wondrous one ... There is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it.”
