Tell us about College Football experience?
The college football experience for me were honestly some of the best years of my life. I was blessed with the opportunity to attend multiple universities all over the United States. The college football experience gave me lifelong bonds and stories that I can tell my children one day whilst also showing me how much I have in common with people who seemingly are nothing like me. College Football also taught me discipline, and resiliency. I think in playing at multiple schools and earning a variety of awards, I think I truly made the most out of my college football experience.
When you look back at your college career what is one game that stands out from the rest and brought out the overall best in you as a player?
I feel as though the game that sticks out the most to me would be my first year at Missouri Valley college when we played Culver Stockton College. I finished the game with over 100+ yards and two touchdowns, one being the game winner. I think that coach really tried to put the ball in my hands that game and give me opportunities to make plays. When given that chance I ran with it, and we were able to get the much-needed conference win.
When you look back on your college playing career, can you name a time where you overcame adversity and what did you learn from the ordeal?
I think the biggest force of adversity came with each time I transferred. It became really hard to bet on myself in regard to football when it seemed as though I couldn’t find the right program fit for myself. Early in college I wasn’t the best student athlete on or off of the field, and at the time I had no aspirations to be. I think honestly, it took failure in both fields for me to lock in and work harder. Through that I learned that football is not a right, it’s a privilege. Football is a game that many wish they could play, and luckily God granted me the ability to play at a high level. I learned to used the talents that God gave me and to treat football like the great opportunity that it is.
When you look at your style of play what would be your biggest trait you possess and what is one area you are always improving on a daily basis?
On the field I think my style of play is very exciting. I have very deceptive speed and good change of pace when route running. I think that my biggest trait is my sure handedness. I believe that when the ball is in my vicinity it is 100% without a doubt mine. Everyday I’m looking to improve my footwork in hopes of adding some more elusive moves into my arsenal. I think that’s nowadays the best receivers are the ones who can take what was supposed to be a 6-yard gain, for 80 yards.
What do you look for when watching game film? And what would you like draft scouts to look at when watching your game film?
When I’m watching opponent game film I’m normally looking for tendencies. What does the corner like to do when he’s disguising coverages? What are his coverage techniques? Is the corner patient or aggressive? Does the safety come downhill hard on run plays? These are the types of questions that I ask myself in order to better prepare myself to compete against my opponent. I hope that when watching the game film the draft scouts don’t just look at my highlight plays, but I hope they look at the key blocks that I’ve had and the times in which I beat my man but simply just didn’t get the ball.
How do you standout from other draft prospects at your position?
I think that not only do I stand out with my play style, but I feel as though I’m a very good teammate. I think that I have the ability to lead others well, simply by getting to know them outside of the sport of football. Also, I’ve seen a lot of drops in the professional game of football, I think that my sure handedness sticks out from most.
If you could compare yourself to any current pro football athlete, who would it be and why?
I think if I could compare my play style to someone’s it would be Tee Higgins. I think Tee Higgins is very underrated and underused. In my opinion I think I have a very similar play style to him. As far as the type of teammate I am, I’d like to think I’m like Jason Kelce, very dependable but also always a good time to be around.
What is your final pitch to pro football general managers and draft scouts?
To NFL pro scouts, I hope that you see just how much potential lies within me. My goal is to chase a ring with whatever organization wants to take a chance on me. When you take a chance on me you get one of the most hardworking individuals that you’ll find in today’s era of football.
