@starsandrobots I guess where I am going with this is that it's very context-dependent. I'm not going to tell you that the kazoo is not a beautiful and subtle instrument just because it appears to be a kid's toy and it's simple to make, or even because I don't like the sound so much.

@starsandrobots Also I am moved by the stories behind instruments. Where they came from as a mechanism, from where in the world and why and how they arose as cultural artifacts. Who that specific instance came from, who made it, and how it got to where it is being played. All part of playing it.
