It was great to speak with Councillor Lisa Dominato about the importance of Vancouver's School Liaison Officer program.
One of the things we've heard most consistently from parents and families across our city is just how valuable these officers are.
Time and again, we've been told that School Liaison Officers have helped keep students safe, built trust with young people, and played an important role in creating healthier school communities.
We're incredibly grateful for the work these officers do every day. They mentor students, help prevent bullying and violence, support schools in responding to safety concerns, and play an important role in early intervention and gang prevention.
For many students, they're trusted mentors and positive role models.
That's why one of ABC Vancouver's first actions in office was to fully restore the School Liaison Officer program after listening to families and educators across our city.
Public safety starts early. We'll continue standing with students, teachers, parents, and the Vancouver Police Department to ensure this important program remains in our schools, helping keep Vancouver's families safe.

This is a lesson I have taught my daughter: true leadership is not only about power or position, but also about kindness, humility, and respect.
On stage, Mayor Ken Sim carries the presence and authority of a leader. But what impressed me most was seeing him kneel down to my daughter’s eye level, helping her feel comfortable and at ease. Leadership is not only about standing tall,it is also about knowing when to bend down and connect with people.

One of the things I'm most humbled by as Mayor, alongside an incredible ABC Vancouver team, is the opportunity to meet the people who make this city what it is.
I've had so many great conversations with residents, business owners, workers, and visitors, and it's been wonderful to see people out enjoying Vancouver and sharing their thoughts on the progress we've made together.
It was an honour to speak with a resident who has called Vancouver home for more than 40 years and to hear their perspective on how our city has changed over time.
Thank you to everyone who has helped make this World Cup such a success and helped Vancouver welcome the world.
We're committed to working every day to keep Vancouver safe, affordable, and vibrant so that the energy we're seeing today continues long after the tournament is over.

Door knocking with my 5-year-old — likely the youngest volunteer! 👶
While I spoke with residents & listened to their feedback, he took his role very seriously, carefully recording notes in his little notebook. 📝😆
It’s never too early to learn the importance of listening, community service & giving back. Proud to have my little helper by our side. ❤️
Hey Vancouver - what an incredible day of soccer at BC Place in FIFA World Cup 2026! ⚽️ While today did not deliver the result we wanted - Team Canada is now headed for the knockout round in LA at the end of this month. Go Canada Go!! 🇨🇦 🎉
I am so proud of Canada. Tough game today, but it was still an incredible effort and moment to experience this match together with all of you.
As we move on to the next stage of the tournament, we're grateful for the opportunity to continue this journey together and cheer on Team Canada. Advancing is an incredible accomplishment, and we're excited for what's ahead.
Whether you were watching at BC Place, at one of our amazing local businesses, at a watch party, or at home with family and friends, it was great to see so many people come together to support our team.
I want to thank everyone for enjoying today's game, and the entire World Cup, in such a safe and respectful way. You are showing the world exactly what Vancouver and Canada are all about.
We can't wait to watch the next game together and continue this journey with all of you.

I've had a great time catching up with so many people and hearing from residents and visitors enjoying the World Cup festivities on Granville Street, at Fan Fest, and at watch parties and gathering places across Vancouver.
I want to thank everyone who has helped make this such a safe, welcoming, and exciting event for our city.
We're committed to listening to you and continuing to build vibrant public spaces where people want to gather, celebrate, and spend time together — from Granville Street and Gastown to Chinatown and neighbourhoods across Vancouver.
A safe city.
An affordable city.
And a city that works for you.
Let's go, Canada! 🇨🇦

In challenging economic times, families and businesses need a government that respects their tax dollars and creates opportunities for people to get ahead.
For too long, Vancouver was known as the "No Fun City."
Your ABC Vancouver team is taking a different approach.
That's why we approved expanded service hours for restaurants, pubs, bars, and nightclubs across Vancouver.
These changes give local businesses more flexibility, support workers in the hospitality sector, and help create the conditions for jobs and investment to grow.
A vibrant city is a stronger city.
And a strong economy helps families get ahead.
Your ABC Vancouver team is committed to keeping Vancouver safe, affordable, and vibrant.
Let's keep Vancouver moving forward.

Being a dad is one of the greatest privileges of my life, and I'm grateful every day for the opportunity to raise my four sons alongside Teena.
Happy Father's Day to all the hardworking and supportive dads out there.
Peter Raptis of The Pawn Shop YVR restaurant shared that his business broke sales records as World Cup festivities got underway, highlighting the renewed energy and vibrancy returning to Granville Street.
It’s great to see Peter and so many other small business owners benefiting from a downtown that is busy, welcoming, and full of life.
Your ABC Vancouver team is committed to keeping Vancouver safe, affordable, and vibrant so that long after the World Cup, local businesses can continue to thrive, create jobs, and help build a stronger economy for our city.

Thank you, Killarney!
It was great to be back in my old neighbourhood with our ABC Vancouver team and volunteers, connecting with residents and hearing their thoughts on Vancouver’s future.
We appreciate everyone who opened their door to chat with us today. @Vote4ABC
Saturday morning door knocking in Killarney & Champlain Heights with a large group of volunteers.
Great conversations with residents! Thx to everyone who took the time to share your ideas &!feedback. A special thank you to all the volunteers.
Together, we’re building a stronger, safer, & more affordable Vancouver. #vanpoli
For too long, Vancouver was falling behind on the basics.
Pools.
Community centres.
Recreation facilities.
Aging buildings and years of underinvestment left too many facilities struggling to meet the needs of Vancouver families and seniors.
ABC is taking a different approach.
We’re investing a record $400 million to renew or rebuild five community centres across the city:
• Dunbar
• Kerrisdale
• Hastings
• Roundhouse
• Kensington
Vancouverites deserve places where families can gather, seniors can stay active, and kids can thrive.
We’re delivering the core services people expect when they pay their taxes.
Vancouver is safer and more affordable when families and seniors have access to the recreation, connection, and life skills these community centres and services provide.
An affordable city.
A safe city.
And a city that works for you.
Let’s keep moving Vancouver forward.

I spoke with Sunan Spriggs, founder of CityLux Boutique, whose business was located directly across from Vancouver’s former 1060 Howe overdose prevention site. Sunan shared firsthand how difficult it was to operate a small business in the immediate vicinity of the site and the impacts it had on the surrounding community.
Your ABC Vancouver team is ensuring compassion and public safety go hand in hand.
That means ensuring services for those struggling with addiction and mental health challenges are delivered in proper medical facilities and proper medical supports, direct pathways to detox, treatment, recovery, and long-term care.
It also means ensuring facilities are located appropriately and not placed beside residents, small businesses, and tourism districts without real consultation.
We will continue standing up for public safety and working to keep Vancouver safe and affordable for everyone.

@PeterMeiszner
A big thank you to the residents of the Sunrise neighbourhood for welcoming our ABC Vancouver candidates and volunteers at the doors again last evening.
We heard thoughtful feedback about local parks, parking, traffic, taxes, public safety, and delivering the reliable services people expect from their city.
Grateful to hear directly from you. We’re always here to help with your City Hall issues. @Vote4ABC
It was exciting for me to speak with @CBCGloria in the fabulous Studio 60 @CBCVancouver about Vancouver’s transformation to become the best #FIFAWorldCup destination on the planet. Listen to my interview on where to learn about FREE fun spaces!

I had the opportunity to speak with William Donnellan, owner of Donnellan's Irish Pub, about the challenges that downtown businesses once faced and the exciting changes we are seeing today.
Like many business owners, William has seen firsthand how important a vibrant, safe, and welcoming downtown is to Vancouver's success. The crowds, energy, and support for local businesses we're seeing today are exactly what our city needs.
It is our commitment that this renewed vibrancy continues, and we will work day in and day out to ensure it does.
That's why we've made public safety such a priority. When people feel safe, they come downtown, support local businesses, enjoy our restaurants and entertainment districts, and help our economy thrive.
Thank you to William and all the business owners, entrepreneurs, and workers who help keep Vancouver moving and create jobs across our city.
Your ABC Vancouver team remains committed to keeping Vancouver safe, affordable, vibrant, and open for business.

We want to thank the federal government for a major step forward with their bail reform legislation becoming law. This is something Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team have been advocating for for years.
For too long, repeat offenders have been responsible for a disproportionate amount of the crime, disorder, and violence impacting Vancouver's streets and neighbourhoods.
Federal bail reform is an important step, now, the Province must do its part as well.
We expect to see:
• Mandatory care and treatment beds for Vancouver. So far, none have been delivered.
• Harm reduction services properly managed with wraparound supports and direct pathways to detox, treatment, recovery, and long-term care.
• Dangerous and poorly managed SROs moved off Granville Street.
• No net new supportive housing in Vancouver without the proper supports in place to keep neighbourhoods safe.
• Cancellation of the Province's proposed 900 Helmcken OPS and a commitment to not introduce new sites into neighbourhoods without meaningful consultation with the surrounding community.
Your ABC Vancouver team has already taken action by removing dangerous encampments, launching Task Force Barrage to reduce crime in the Downtown Eastside, establishing a dedicated police training centre, fully funding the Vancouver Police Department, fully funding all needed mental health nurses, and standing up to harmful provincial policies.
Now it's time for the Province to step up.
