@PhilosopherJoeC Cont. "If you mean slavery in general today (what researchers call “modern slavery”), the best current estimates are: ~50 million people globally (most widely cited UN/ILO estimate)" They've simply weakened the definition of slavery to get more eyeballs on their claims.
@PhilosopherJoeC Sorta true.. "If you mean chattel slavery specifically (people treated as literal property, like in the transatlantic slave trade), the number today is very small and not well quantified—it still exists in a few places, but it’s rare and illegal everywhere"
@SpeedWatkins@darwintojesus@walktheironroad "Indeed, the whole crop of ‘New Atheists’ are softies of this kind. So was I, until I experienced my shocking epiphany that the religious fundamentalists are correct: without God, there is no morality. But they are incorrect about there being a God. Hence there is no morality."
@DanHayesMLB@JohnLanoVoice You can't see why hanging around someone who wanted out of Minnesota would be concerning to Minnesota fans? That's a you thing.
@LucasGageX I'm not Orthodox or a proponent of TAG style arguments but I'll take a shot at attacking it for funsies if I see you on a space. P1 is the least of my worries tbh.
@LucasGageX@Gnosisinformant@jaydyer@byjimbo@SimulatedSun@DerekPodcast I think it's both, maybe. But i think for the most part you are simply redefining philosophical terms, then using these new definitions to make odd claims about analytic philosophy that no one else makes because they don't hold your novel definitions.
@LucasGageX@Gnosisinformant@jaydyer@byjimbo@SimulatedSun@DerekPodcast If you can confidently make claims like "I'm saying WE humans can't get the JTB that is with capital T" with such force then then your own thesis cannot be presented as knowledge. So on what grounds should anyone accept it?
@LucasGageX@Gnosisinformant@jaydyer@byjimbo@SimulatedSun@DerekPodcast So there is no such thing as what you call an "absolute truth" which seems like maybe by that you mean "a mind independent truth" and because there is no "absolute truth" there is no way to have a JTB? Am I understanding you correctly?
@LucasGageX@Gnosisinformant@jaydyer@byjimbo@SimulatedSun@DerekPodcast "What I'm saying is "all unmarried men are bachelors" is not an ABSOLUTE TRUTH which is mind-independent that describes the nature of reality itself"
Interesting. Are there any examples of what you call a mind independent absolute truth? Is this sentence one? "So it is not JTB"
