Our staff was out in White Post (#Clarke County) today. The town gets its name from the large white post which marked the road to the #Shenandoah home of Thomas Fairfax, 6th Lord Fairfax. Supposedly the post was erected by none other than George Washington.
Our staff was out today planning for our hike along the #Shenandoah River at North Hill. We'll be talking about topics ranging from Native American culture, #CivilWar battles, and Honky Tonks of the 1930s! Tickets can be bought from our website: https://t.co/wChmDOE5Ui
#CivilWar#history surrounds us in Northern Virginia. On Monday our staff was in historic Waterford, talking with the @CivilWarTimes about our local #veterans. If you're passing a historic cemetery, it's always worth exploring!
Twitter Friends! If you've been following my research related to an 1837 baptism record of an enslaved child that surfaced in Louisville, KY, I'll be discussing it at this event! The tale of that child, his mother, & the link to the @vpheritagearea area is jaw-dropping. Join Us!!
