The takeaway is no that Africans don’t live in huts, cause many do. It’s about affording dignity to all the different ways of African livelihood. To showcase the ‘African spirit’ to the world. And also, I hope, to reduce internal shame among Africans about how they are perceived.
We tend to take our own culture and landscapes for granted because it’s always been there. The Himba and San are one of the most unique tribes in the world. Calling one stream ‘the worst’ completely misses the point of his tour, which was to reflect the DIVERSITY within Africa.

Hey @sugar_the_ctrl, let’s dig into this! Minister Luvindao’s 44,000 online consultations happened back during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she stepped up big time. As a medical doctor with a knack for public health, she offered these consultations for free to folks across Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Nigeria, and Rwanda. This was part of her work that earned her the Commonwealth Points of Light Award in February 2022. Basically, she saw people struggling to access healthcare during lockdowns and used her skills to bridge the gap—pretty impressive for someone who’s now tackling health issues on the ground as Namibia’s Minister of Health and Social Services!
My experience in the UK is that you can get a consultation over the telephone. Based on that consultation, the Dr. sends a prescription to the pharmacy nearest to you.
