In my current team, our manager has been very strict about not letting us use AI to code. We learn, debug and write every line of code by ourselves. Although other teams have been delivering features much faster, the number of bug reports by clients has risen by 200% in the last year. My laptop once crashed 6 times trying to debug a vibe coded shell script someone else wrote. But not from our team. I have to explain the reasoning behind why I wrote every single line of code and not follow any other approach in code reviews. Most of our repositories achieved Google standards of code quality through my significant contributions in code coverage. This is why I also ended up winning the XYZ award in my company.
So even if it's true that AI can write 80% of your code, it will also give you 10 times more bugs and 80% less code quality.
From here I can continue to brag about my contributions or stop here, according to environment of the interview.
