There is a shift in the markets today, for software companies - spurred on by the worlds understanding of what AI agents can do, and the fear that they will easily rebuild established software systems. Don't worry about AI rebuilding or copying enterprise software for “system of record”, because that way of using and selling software is not the future.
The move in the markets puts a fine point to why I am shifting my strategy away from companies that are building software for keeping records, and searching records, like Salesforce, Pipedrive, Jira, Typeform.
I believe the big winners in software, will be companies you will not recognise as software companies because they will not be selling software, they will be selling solutions to a business process, or they will be masquerading as regular companies in other industries.
To the normal customer, they will look like an old-school business. We know that is how humans prefer to interact with them, but behind the scenes almost all of the business processes will be replaced with large language models and regular code for automation, what we today call AI.
The startups who can utilise AI tools to quickly develop and run their own internal automation, will have a unique opportunity to enter into established industries, perform the exact same services, but expand the market into the lower price points, as they drive the cost of performing their services way down, but keep high margins.
In Likeminded we are investing in those who have the ambitions to become the next Nordic unicorn, and we couldn't be more excited about the future and the great companies our societies will get to enjoy.
@dhh It's white guilt on display.
I wonder how we can offer these people another way to channel their anxiety into something more productive for the future.
So das wäre auch geklärt. 😀
@levelsio@BartBurggraaf I completely agree. Id live out of a van, and use my shed for storage and a workspace.
Meanwhile I am paying a large mortgage for my kids to not use their rooms and my basement to hold clutter. 👌🏻
@chrija@PointNineCap The score is lower than I would asses myself. Build an AI first company, in a traditional vertical, so all customer interfaces to the business are real people (no APIs) but all internals are AI.
@AnichMarcel@MartinGTobias Yes, absolutely. But we just looked at 5-10 similar startups in our region (Nordics), and already made our bet, so I am not the right match for you.
@AlexVanopslagh Stærk ambition!
@MartinGTobias Fair, but both founders probably had the same belief in their business, just turns out one a better go to market approach than the other.
