π Earlier today, SBGFD Department 60 responded after a duck was found entangled in fishing line in Merriewold Lake. Our members carefully removed the line and ensured the duck was no longer in distress.
We thank our members for their dedication, professionalism, and willingness to do whatever it takes, whenever called upon, to serve our community and its occasional ducklings.
As a reminder, please dispose of fishing line properly and never leave it behind. Discarded line can cause serious injury to ducks, geese, and other wildlife that call our community home. πͺΏ
π The Village of South Blooming Grove Fire Department - SBGFD Department 60 participated yesterday in an extensive pump operations training exercise conducted by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control in partnership with Orange County Fire officials.
The training brought together fire departments from across Orange County to strengthen coordination, water supply operations, hydrant procedures, tanker operations, hose deployment, and mutual aid response. These exercises ensure that firefighters from different agencies can work seamlessly together during large-scale emergencies, operating as one team when every second counts.
South Blooming Grove firefighters were proud to train alongside departments from throughout the county, reinforcing their commitment to professionalism, preparedness, and public safety.

Today, our department is hard at work providing fire standby coverage for 5 different Lag B'Omer events throughout the Village, to help ensure the safety of the community.
