Love having to sign into this rarely-used Twitter account to turn off open DMs because despite Elon's triumphant announcement about getting rid of bots, I still constantly get emails about being added to group conversations by spammers.
And yes, "no more societal and political discussions" a year into the most societal unrest we've seen wrt police violence against people of color is a racist policy. It's not hard to tell what the driving factor for this change was.
A 2-3 month old DEI council has 2 weeks to wrap up. Woof. The Basecamp saga ain't getting any less ugly, that's for sure...and no, I didn't read David's "more details" because you can't fucking fix racist policies with clarification π
I don't use this account much, & looking at the last thing I tweeted...well. I feel even more that Expensify did the right thing. The scale of this is not "R vs. D". It's fascism vs. not. We do not live in normal times, so we need to take action past what we normally would.
Just to contribute to the Expensify convo - I got the email. I'm obviously a progressive, but the reason I thought the email was good was because *it is that serious*. These "I'm not a Trumpie but that email was Bad" folks are on the wrong track.
There is a huge difference between "vote for my chosen political candidate" and "vote against turning the US fully into a fascist dictatorship", and it is time that more folks boldly took the second stance in any way that they are able. Yes, including emailing customers. Fin.

I get the whole "I don't want to see political stuff at work" thing but some of us are worried we could legally be denied the ability to work if he gets another four years, so possibly consider that. And, again, consider that *he may not let us vote next time* if he's re-elected.
This is particularly distressing, & something I've observed personally before:
"If one person was forced to stay, the rest were likely to follow suit. βThey exploited the fact that we were close,β she says. βThey knew we would take a bullet for each other and they just used it.""
Thinx, ThirdLove, now Away...where does this end? This article is horrifying to read in similar ways to the ThirdLove and Thinx cases. Thinx got rid of Miki Agrawal - what will Away do? https://t.co/lS8PKNlCPK
We recently released a WYSIWYG editor to help you format messages in Slack. To the users who preferred the text markdown from before, we heard you. π
Starting today, you can choose how youβd like to format messages by going to Preferences > Advanced > Input Options. #changelog
Why did @SlackHQ need to add a WYSIWYG editor...that you can't disable or opt out of? Why did they force the update to it?! Even Livejournal knew to let you still use HTML mode when they added WYSIWYG. Ick.

Any time I'm having a super busy week, feeling stressed out...all it takes is one customer being grateful for the help I provided to perk me right up. Works like a charm.
I don't understand why, when a site like Zendesk goes down, everyone freaks out at the folks manning their accounts, demanding an ETA, asking for resolutions, what they're doing to prevent this in the future...
...don't we *all work in customer support*???
I certainly want to be able to help my customers, to be able to work - but I don't see the point in being confrontational. They're in the middle of an incident. Do YOU have an ETA for resolution & mitigation plan within 30 minutes of an incident beginning in your organization?
