A Supreme Court judge has no constitutional brief to deliver nationalist sermons to the Leader of Opposition. A courtroom is a forum for legal scrutiny not a pulpit for ideological policing.

If a politician dared to lecture a judge on judicial conduct or courtroom propriety, it would invite contempt. Why then is it permissible for Justice Dipankar Datta to stray into political commentary and question the patriotism of an elected representative? His role is to uphold the Constitution, not hand out certificates of Indianness.

When judges begin acting like political gatekeepers, they don't just blur institutional lines, they burn them. This kind of judicial overreach is not merely improper; it's deeply corrosive to democracy.
